Investigation And Analysis On The Present Situation Of Elderly Catering Service In A College Of Guangzhou

The problem of aging population in China’s urban population is very prominent and severe,and the issue of old-age care is prominent too.Therefore,the whole society should think about the problem of old-age care for the elderly.As a new type of old-age care model,community-based pension is a combination of family pension and social pension,which can not only meet the objective requirements of population aging,but also can reduce the burden of family members’ pension,and can meet the psychological needs of the elderly.As another kind of existence situation of the community,colleges and universities not only face the needs of a large number of elderly people,but also have the innate hardware and software conditions for providing food for the elderly.This thesis conducted an empirical study in a university in Guangzhou.We designed a survey questionnaire,and then use SPSS25 software for statistical analysis.The research contents were as follows: the first was the situation analysis of the elderly understanding of the restaurant catering service.The distribution characteristics of the people’s understanding of their importance and satisfaction level were analyzed from the three aspects of hardware facilities,dining needs and service quality.The second was quantitative evaluation and influencing factors analysis of the elderly food service in the university.Through quantitative methods,the elderly scored its importance and satisfaction from three aspects:hardware facilities,dining needs and service quality,and then analyzed its influencing factors from various aspects.The purpose of this study was to understand the cognitive and acceptance of the elderly in the canteens of the universities,and to provide a reference for further improving and optimizing the food service for the elderly in the canteens.The main findings of this paper were as follows:(1)94.15% of the elderly expressed very concerned about food safety.Only 0.24% of the elderly expressed not very concerned about food safety,which indicates that the elderlywho ate in the cafeteria paid a high degree of attention to food safety.(2)The percentage of the elderly people surveyed who considered to be important,including important and very important,in the canteen’s hardware facilities,dining needs,and service quality,were about 73.60%,90.97%,and 92.2%,respectively.The number of people who are satisfied with the demand and service quality,including satisfied and very satisfied,were 81.22%,81.71%,and 80.97%.(3)The importance scores of the elderly people surveyed were 81.68±11.55,92.33±8.92,92.11±9.62,respectively,for the canteen hardware facilities,dining needs,and service quality.The scores of satisfactions were 86.43±13.24,88.96±11.67,and 90.20±11.48,respectively.(4)Six factors that had significant influence on importance and satisfaction,such as identity,age,family characteristics,monthly income,monthly expenditure on food and beverage,and government subsidies.Among those elders,the non-presidents in Tianhe district had high importance and satisfaction with the elderly food service in college canteens,and the importance and satisfaction of the retired employees in the school were low;the elderly aged 70-79 had high importance and satisfaction while the elderly and over80 years old had low importance and satisfaction to the elderly catering service in college canteens.The elderly who lived with the children had high importance and satisfaction with the elderly catering service in university canteens.The elderly living with children had a high degree of importance and satisfaction with the elderly catering service while the elderly living alone had a low degree of importance and satisfaction..The elderly with monthly income above 6,000 yuan and the elderly with monthly income of more than 1,000 yuan had high importance and satisfaction with the elderly catering service in university canteens.The elderly with monthly income of 1001～6000 yuan and the elderly with monthly expenditure below 600 yuan had low importance and satisfaction to the elderly catering service in university canteens.The elderly with government subsidies 4 yuan and 6yuan every day for college canteens had higher importance and satisfaction for the elderly catering service than those who have the government subsidy with 3 yuan every day.
