Job burnout is a symptom of physical and mental exhaustion caused by an individual’s inability to adapt to a specific work situation(such as excessive work pressure).Job burnout often causes teachers to lose their enthusiasm for work and treat colleagues and students with indifference, which in turn affects the quality of teaching and work efficiency, even lead to turnover intention in serious cases.A total of 162 teachers from 2 private primary schools in Y city were taken as investigation objects to explore the job burnout problem by methods of participant observation, questionnaire survey and in-depth interview.During the research process,2 variables, organizational support and turnover intention, were introduced to analyze the current situation, influencing factors and consequences of teachers’ job burnout in private primary schools.Under the guidance of Cognitive Behavior Theory and Social Support Theory, group work method was used to alleviate their job burnout problem.Through descriptive statistics,independent-sample T test,one-way ANOVA,correlation analysis,Process mediation effect test of questionnaire data and in-depth interview, the following conclusions were drawn.First, the overall job burnout of private primary school teachers was at a moderate level, among which emotional exhaustion was the most serious dimension. There was no significant difference in job burnout among teachers with different gender, education level, serving as a class teacher or not, having administrative part-time job or not,and the number of class hours per week, but there were significant differences among teachers with different age, marital status, teaching age,and monthly income.Second, the organizational support and turnover intention of teachers in private primary schools were on the middle level.Third, organizational support had a significant negative impact on job burnout and turnover intention, while job burnout had a significant positive impact on turnover intention.Job burnout played a partial mediating role in the process of organizational support affecting turnover intention.Fourth, the intervention of the group work, such as “meeting you and me for the first time” “burnout classroom” “releasing oneself”“burnout relief” “skill improvement” and “the original intention persistence”,could alleviate the job burnout problem of private primary school teachers. The results of the pre-post test showed that the job burnout of the group members had indeed been significantly alleviated. In view of the current situation of teachers’ job burnout in private primary schools, countermeasures and suggestions from 3 aspects of government, schools and individual teachers respectively were put forward. The government should improve relevant laws and create a social trend of respecting teachers and teaching.Schools should perfect the management system, improve teachers’ right to speak, appropriately reduce the workload of teachers, and promote the professional development of teachers.Teachers should maintain a positive attitude, pay attention to the combination of work and rest, establish good interpersonal relationships, and broaden the support network.
