A Case Study Of The Social Organization Participation In Running Community Worker’s Home

For a long time,running of the public space has been the weakness in community public service and governance.The current mode of government-leading public service and governance does not bring the function of community public space into full play.Therefore,the attempts to extend the cooperation between government and society,to release space and resources by the former,as well as to introduce social organizations in running the community public space,provide prospective opportunities to the community governance and the sustainable development of social organizations in return.This thesis has performed the case study of Z community worker’s home in Nanchang County,where the social organization participates in running of the community worker’s home as a public space by means of stationing managers,injecting the concept of social service and integrating community resources.The author conducted questionnaire surveys among community residents,held interviews with the managers of governmental departments,community coordinators,the social organization leaders and the community residents.The accumulated data show that both the community and the social organization benefit from the interactions,witnessing significant improvements in many aspects in public services,like the improvement of facility utilization,the stimulation of the community vitality,the willingness of the participation of public affairs and the innovation of community governance as well as in the growth of the social organization.On the other hand,some deficiencies in the participation of the social organization in running of Z community worker’s home are revealed.They include less efficiency of service,institutional deficiencies,weakness of brand building and low-awareness of non-profit attributes.It is suggested that the main causes are lack of social organization capacity,insufficient governmental support and under-developed running mechanism.In view of the above problems,the thesis puts forward the following suggestions for solution.First,the social organization needs to improve the ability of management,fund-raising and forming systematic institutions and mechanisms.Second,the corresponding government agency is suggested to strengthen the policy support to and enhance the cooperation with the social organization,followed by upgrading the assessment system.Third,from the point of view of the society,while the Work Union plays the decision role,the community members,social power and university research resources shall be involved collaboratively and comprehensively.
