General education is a whole-person education,which aims to cultivate students’ moral quality,healthy psychology,strong physique,humanistic quality and scientific spirit.The general education course is the direct carrier of general education acting on teachers and students.It is a course set up for all students.It aims to impart concepts,ideas and methods in different fields.Through general education courses to train thinking,enable students to transform knowledge into ability,and then shape character.The general education of colleges and universities with industry characteristics needs to integrate industry characteristics into the common education of students,and help students to obtain better professional improvement while educating people.At present,colleges and universities specializing in the science and engineering industry have initially established a general education course system with college characteristics.However,compared with professional education and skills education,some teachers and students still need to strengthen their understanding of general education.Compared with professional courses,general education courses have deficiencies in the clarity of goals,the depth of content,the rationality of structure,the professionalism of teachers,and the standardization of implementation.How to take root in the reality of higher education in my country and explore general education with industry characteristics is the problem that this research hopes to solve.This study selects three industry-specific universities: the original "211" university,the first-class discipline construction university H University,the first-class discipline construction university Y University,and the Jiangsu high-level university construction B-class university J University as the research object,and the general knowledge of the three schools Research on the setting and implementation of the educational curriculum system,and try to put forward possible opinions and measures for optimizing the general curriculum system of the colleges and universities with characteristics of the science and engineering industry.This research is mainly divided into five parts:The first part is the research background.The purpose of this paper is to summarize the problems raised and the significance of research.Under the background that my country’s higher education reform requires vigorously promoting general education,how should colleges and universities with characteristics of science and engineering industries build a general curriculum system with college characteristics? Design research ideas and research methods around this issue.Based on text analysis and field research,combined with questionnaires and interviews,this paper adopts a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to study the setting and implementation of the general education curriculum system in the target colleges and universities.The second part is literature review and theory construction.Summarize the research results related to general education courses in domestic and foreign universities and general education courses in universities with characteristics of science and technology industries,clarify the relevant concepts and connotations of general education and general education courses in universities with characteristics of science and engineering industries,Knowledge education should integrate industry culture into the whole process of talent training,and help students better engage in industry work while cultivating students as adults.Based on the classic theoretical essentialism,progressivism and eclecticism of general education,combined with the modern trend of international general education and the actual needs of my country’s higher education,a general education curriculum system suitable for the characteristic colleges and universities in my country’s science and engineering industry is constructed.Theoretical basis and analytical framework.The third part is the current situation of the general education curriculum in the characteristic colleges and universities of science and engineering.Taking three colleges and universities with characteristics of science and engineering industries in Jiangsu Province as an example,based on the undergraduate talent training programs of the three colleges and universities,the relevant general courses issued by the schools,and the syllabus of some general courses,the text analysis is carried out.It preliminarily summarizes the common characteristics and deficiencies of the general education curriculum system of the characteristic colleges and universities in the science and engineering industry.In general,the general education course objectives of the colleges and universities with characteristics of the science and engineering industry can meet the macro needs of the industry but lack school-based implementation;the general education course modules are convergent,and the industry characteristics are not prominent enough;the proportion of general general education courses is large,and the characteristic general education courses are large.There is little room for development;the course implementation is simple,and there is a lack of professional course management.The fourth part is empirical research,which is carried out by combining questionnaires and interviews,using quantitative description and qualitative methods to explain the views and suggestions of students,teachers and educational administrators on the general education curriculum in our school,and analyze the effectiveness of the general education curriculum construction in the three institutions.In general,students have improved their humanistic appreciation,expression ability,and thinking ability through the study of general courses,but lacked the cultivation of social responsibility.The general education concept of some students is not clear enough,teachers are good at offering humanities and arts courses,and students are willing to learn literary theory and artistic practice,but there is little room for development of such courses.General courses in engineering need to expand the scope of disciplines,and general courses in humanities and arts need to increase the proportion of courses.The non-exam-based course assessment method is more favored by teachers and students.The change of teaching method can promote the improvement of classroom effect.In the course management and evaluation of modular general courses,it is necessary to strengthen the coordination and cooperation between the college and the Academic Affairs Office,and highlight the students Criticism.The fifth part is the construction principles and optimization strategies of the general education curriculum system in the characteristic colleges and universities of science and engineering.Follow the construction principles of unifying the orientation and specificity of the goal,the typicalization of the content and the life,and the openness and standardization of the implementation.Specific optimization suggestions are put forward in terms of content depth and strict general education curriculum implementation.
