Mathematical language is a universal language for expressing scientific thoughts,the best carrier of mathematical thinking and the most effective tool for mathematical communication.Primary school is in the basic stage of thinking development,and it is also the most effective stage to cultivate mathematical thinking ability.The training and expression of mathematical language is an important part of mathematics classroom teaching,an important means and way to cultivate students’ mathematical thinking and improve their mathematical thinking quality.On the basis of the status quo of first-hand information through reviewing the literature analysis,recording the observation of classroom teaching practice,designing written and oral mathematical language expression test papers and the questionnaire test of students’ ability on the present situation for investigation and analysis,and exchanging with the mathematics teachers of lower grade in primary school,the problems existing in the mathematical expression are summarized and analyzed for seeking the root of the problems,exploring the solutions,putting forward to the suggestions and countermeasures for teachers’ teaching and students’ learning,so as to effectively improve the current primary school lower grade students’ mathematical language power of expression,eventually to achieve the goal of improving mathematical thinking and mathematics core literacy.The main conclusions of the study are as follows:Both students and teachers do not fully understand the cognition and attitude of mathematical language expression of lower grade students.From the students’ level,although the vast majority of students realize the importance of mathematical language specification,participate actively in the math teaching and training of language expression,express clearly their mathematical thinking and understanding of the problem,but there are a few students neglecting or ignoring the expression of mathematical language specification,not taking the initiative to participate in the activities of mathematics teaching of language expression.There is a certain deficiency for these student in the expression of mathematical language.As a result,there are some problems in the process of expression,such as not high abstraction,not concise expression and not strong logic,so that these students are not confident in the expression of mathematical language.From the perspective of teachers,although most teachers realize that students are the subject of learning and can consciously carry out mathematical language expression training in mathematics teaching activities,the degree of teachers’ attention,training methods,and demonstration are not enough.The elementary school lower grade students in mathematical language to express,in general most of the students’ mathematical language expression contents can be basic consistent with problems,but it has much deficient in using learned concepts to highly generalization,expressing mathematical language concisely and logically,teachers need to further strengthen guidance and training in the teaching activities.The reasons that lead to the problems in the expression of mathematical language in the lower grades of primary school students include the limited level of mathematical cognition of students,the lack of subjective initiative in learning and the lack of good learning habits,as well as,teachers’ plain cognition of mathematical language expression,lack demonstration and guidance of mathematical language expression,and single evaluation of mathematical language expression teaching.To solve the problems of mathematical language of lower grade students in the elementary school so as to further enhance students’ mathematical language power of expression,the teaching strategies are as following:Renew educational ideas,enhance teachers’ awareness of teaching mathematical language expression and improve their own mathematical language expression literacy.The good environment of mathematical language training need to be created to advocate democracy in teaching,develop rich and colorful teaching mathematics language activities.Focus on the application of students’ mathematical language learning,strengthen the accumulation of mathematical language and attach great importance to the mutual transformation between the language of mathematics.Guide students to express themselves properly in mathematical language,foster a good habit of learning mathematics.With the help of the blackboard demonstration,guide students to express mathematical language correctly and logically,encourage students’ learning process and results positively and feedback timely so as to establish the confidence in learning mathematical language expression.
