In the accelerated development of the information age,the demand for innovative talents is increasing, and the cultivation of students’ creativity is gradually becoming an important direction of education development.Mathematical modeling activities,as a hotbed of creativity cultivation, have been studied by a steady stream of educational researchers and practitioners from the theoretical and practical aspects of the curriculum, with the expectation that the implementation of mathematical modeling activities in high schools can cultivate the innovative talents needed in the new era.In recent years, projectbased learning has gained momentum in China, and many researchers have conducted practical research on the effectiveness of project-based learning activities in fostering students’ creativity. This paper takes project-based learning as a carrier, cultivates students’ creativity as a general overview, and uses questionnaire survey method as an entry point to understand the problems existing in the current high school mathematical modeling activities, and proposes construction schemes with the purpose of solving these problems.Firstly, this thesis compiles and analyzes the origin and development of project-based learning and high school mathematical modeling activities by means of literature reading in order to understand the characteristics and implementation principles of project-based learning and high school mathematical modeling activities, and then defines the concept of project-based learning and mathematical modeling activities.Meanwhile,a questionnaire on the current status of teaching and learning of mathematical modeling activities in high schools was created and distributed in conjunction with existing research results to diagnose the current problems in teaching and learning of mathematical modeling in high schools. The survey analysis and literature research concluded that there are five problems in mathematical modeling in high school: "it is difficult to stimulate interest in mathematical modeling, difficult to choose the content of mathematical modeling activities, difficult to realize the process of mathematical modeling, difficult to improve the ability of mathematical modeling, and the form of mathematical modeling activities is relatively single".Secondly, based on the research and theoretical analysis,we propose corresponding countermeasures and devote ourselves to improving the above problems and form a new teaching model applied to teaching high school mathematical modeling activities—the construction of high school mathematical modeling activities based on project-based learning. We explore the rationality and feasibility of the new model by exploring the fit between the two at both theoretical and practical levels.Based on constructivism learning theory,problem-solving theory and the new academic benchmark,we formulate six principles for the construction of project-based mathematical modeling activities in high school from a macro perspective: feasibility principle,problem-based principle, experiential principle,life-based principle, cooperative principle, and tiered teaching principle. With these six principles as the guiding direction, corresponding construction strategies and construction plans are proposed from the microscopic perspective to guide the implementation of project-based mathematical modeling activities in high school. In the construction process of "project initiation—project implementation—project completion—project summary",the following principles are applied "The project is based on problem solving to stimulate students’ desire for inquiry;independent inquiry to enhance students’ sense of experience;mutual collaboration to cultivate students’ sense of cooperation;tiered teaching to achieve students’ overall development;and information technology to enhance students’ learning efficiency. Finally,in order to make this new model more informative, this thesis designs specific teaching cases based on theoretical studies with the goal of implementing construction strategies that are more instructive for the implementation of high school mathematical modeling activities based on project-based learning. This thesis explores from the perspective of project-based learning the construction of mathematical modeling activities in high school, and the research perspective is relatively new. From its connotation and characteristics,it explores the rationality and feasibility of the organic integration of project-based learning and mathematical modeling activities, breaking the dilemma of implementing mathematical modeling activities. From the analysis through the survey results,it reveals the current situation of teaching and learning of mathematical modeling activities, which is a practical guide to promote the current teaching reform.
