In the new era,the Curriculum Standards for Ethics and the Rule of Law in Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)requires the use of modern information technology and active exploration of the development of teaching resources for the ethics and rule of law curriculum.The development of educational games has enriched the curriculum teaching resources,which can effectively improve students’ learning motivation and give a new way of education teaching.How to make the design of morality and rule of law educational games more reasonable and give full play to their application advantages has become the focus of research.This paper takes ARCS motivation model as the theoretical basis to guide the design and application of morality and rule of law education games in elementary school,which can not only enrich the curriculum teaching resources,but also stimulate students’ learning motivation and improve the problems in the classroom,so as to enhance the overall teaching effect.Therefore,this paper focuses on the core issue of how to design elementary school morality and rule of law education games based on ARCS motivation model to enhance elementary school students’ learning motivation,and the specific work is as follows:1.analyze the current status of domestic and international research on educational games and ARCS motivation model through literature research,correlate ARCS motivation model,educational games,and morality and rule of law subjects,and discuss the integration point of ARCS motivation model and educational games.2.Through student questionnaires and teacher-student interviews,the game design was based on realistic needs and experiences.The first two lessons of"Beautiful Writing,National Treasures" and "Ancient Science and Technology,Brilliant China" in Unit 4 "Proud Ancestors,Splendid Culture" of the first book of the fifth grade of Morality and Law by People’s Education Publishing House were selected as the teaching contents for the teaching analysis.Combining the demand analysis and teaching analysis,the design principles and design process of the educational game were given based on the ARCS motivation model,and the evocative game engine was selected for the development,testing and release of the educational game.3.By conducting a quasi-experimental study,the fifth grade(5)class of L Primary School in Xinxiang City’s Makino District was selected as the experimental class to apply the educational game for teaching,and the(6)class was selected as the control class to apply the original traditional teaching method for teaching,and the students’ academic achievement,learning motivation level and overall application effect were analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational game.This study concludes that the elementary school morality and rule of law education game based on the ARCS motivation model is conducive to improving students’ academic performance and learning motivation,and can optimize the presentation of morality and rule of law knowledge,enhance the activity and interactivity of the classroom,and students are more likely to show initiative,autonomy and concentration in learning,which can be continued to be tried in future teaching.
