The current social security system in China is constantly improving, and in 2019,the Ministry of Civil Affairs published opinions on further strengthening the protection of de facto unsupported children, which stated that the process of identification should be standardized, the target of protection should be clarified, and the focus of protection should be highlighted, etc.Social workers, who are the implementers of social security policies at the grassroots level, play an important role in intervening in the issue of de facto unsupported children and have a different perspective in intervening in the social system. Therefore,it is of great theoretical significance to explore the issue of social support for de facto unaccompanied children in depth. This paper takes the social support network of de facto unaccompanied children as an entry point, and takes a practical research on de facto unaccompanied children in Heng zhou City as an object of study, collecting data through participatory observation and in-depth interviews, and using casework methods to intervene with clients. The aim is to explore the survival status of de facto unsupported children, their guardianship status, the components of social support network, and guardianship problems. The improvement of social support network requires the interconnection and coordination of subject, object and mediator, and social workers play the role of a mediator in the improvement of social support network for de facto unaccompanied children. In this paper,we use the social work service project purchased by Heng zhou Municipal Government of Guang xi Province to understand the components of formal and informal support networks of the service recipients through data collection from the service recipients.Guided by social support theory,we assess the formal and informal support networks of de facto unaccompanied children, analyze the problems of formal and informal support, and implement service plans. In terms of formal support network,we help the clients improve the social support network of government, school, child director, and community, etc. In terms of informal support network,we improve the support network within the client’s family, peers, and volunteer groups and strengthen the connection. This paper draws the following conclusions: social support for de facto unsupported children at the informal level is fragile, but still irreplaceable and the most important social support;at the formal support level,government-led assistance for de facto unsupported children has achieved some success, and through the purchase of social work services, social workers play their professional characteristics in improving the social support for de facto unsupported children The government-led assistance for de facto unsupported children has achieved some success, and through the purchase of social work services, social workers have played their professional characteristics to improve the social support network for de facto unsupported children. The optimization of the service path for de facto unsupported children from the perspective of social work is mainly oriented to the development of localized assistance models to solve the practical problems of de facto unsupported children in real situations and to meet multiple needs.
