In recent years,topics such as the meaning and value of middle school students’ lives have attracted widespread attention from society and researchers.The sense of meaning of life has a significant impact on the development of individuals and mental health,and individuals with high sense of meaning have a higher level of mental health.Individuals with low sense of meaning in life will experience more negative effects,such as increased suicidal ideation and decreased prosocial behavior,so in order to enhance the sense of meaning of life and promote their physical and mental health development,this study intends to explore the impact of parent-child affinity and school connection on the sense of meaning of life of junior high school students from the family and school levels,and introduce self-identity as this mediating variable to explore the internal mechanism between the two,and better provide specific ideas or targeted opinions for improving the sense of meaning of life of junior high school students.In this study,1109 junior high school students in two middle schools in Guangxi were surveyed using parent-child affinity questionnaire,school connection questionnaire,self-identification questionnaire and life meaning questionnaire,and the following results were obtained:(1)In this study,the degree of parent-child affinity,school connection,self-identification,and sense of meaning of life of junior high school students were all at the upper middle level.(2)In terms of gender,there were significant differences in parent-child affinity and self-identity among junior high school students,but there were no significant differences in school connection and sense of meaning in life.In terms of whether or not class cadres,there are significant differences in parent-child affinity,school connection,self-identification,and sense of meaning in life among junior high school students;In terms of grades,there were significant differences in parent-child affinity,school connection,and sense of meaning in life among junior high school students,and there were no significant differences in self-identification.(3)There was a significant positive correlation between parent-child bonding,school connection,self-identity and sense of meaning in life among junior high school students.(4)Self-identity played a partial mediating role between parent-child affinity and the sense of meaning of life,and the mediating effect accounted for 41.67% of the total effect.Self-identity played a partial mediating role between school connection and the sense of meaning of life,and the mediating effect accounted for 22.7% of the total effect.Based on the above findings,this study puts forward the following suggestions:(1)create a good family environment atmosphere,promote parent-child affinity,and lay family support for the improvement of the sense of meaning of life;(2)establish a good school environment atmosphere,promote school connection,and lay school support for the improvement of the sense of meaning of life;(3)effectively improve self-identity and lay internal support for the improvement of the sense of meaning of life;(4)families and schools have their own strengths in children’s education and should give play to their respective advantages;(5)In addition,We should also pay attention to home-school cooperation and co-education,cultivate a new type of home-school relationship,and promote the enhancement of the sense of meaning of life.
