In recent years,the phenomenon of disregard of life among Chinese teenagers has occurred frequently,especially since the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic,this phenomenon has become more serious.Statistics from The Economist indicate that about 100,000 young people commit suicide in China every year.Suicide has become the second cause of death among young people in my country,second only to deaths caused by accidents.In addition,many teenagers skip classes,weariness of school,addicted to games,negative emotions and other common phenomena also reflect that some teenagers have a weak sense of purpose and meaning in life.The sense of meaning of life is the degree to which an individual comprehends the meaning of his life and is aware of the purpose of life.Studies have shown that the sense of meaning of life can significantly predict the level of an individual’s mental health,and the loss of sense of life is also an important cause of psychological symptoms such as anxiety and depression.Therefore,it has important theoretical and practical significance to explore the influencing factors and psychological mechanism of junior high school students’ sense of meaning in life.According to the theory of identity development and the theory of the meaning of life,the formation of adolescents’ healthy self-identity is closely related to the acquisition of the meaning of life.Self-identity is the core concept in Erikson’s identity formation theory.The development task of adolescents is to form good self-identity.Individuals with well-developed self-identity are able to integrate their past,present,and future,and are full of yearning for the present and future life.Therefore,individuals also have a higher sense of meaning in life.Time management tendency as an important personality feature is closely related to self-identity and life meaning.Many studies have shown that students who are good at time management can accomplish tasks more efficiently,achieve goals,and experience their own life value.In addition,individuals with a high level of self-identity can move towards their own clear development goals,so they have better self-control capabilities and better control of time.Therefore,the tendency of time management may be a psychological mechanism of self-identity affecting the sense of meaning in life of junior high school students.This article carried out two studies.The first study took 422 students from a middle school in Shijiazhuang as the subjects,and explored the self-identity and time management of junior high school students through the self-identity status scale,time management tendency scale and life meaning scale.The development characteristics of tendency and sense of life and the relationship between the three.Based on Study 1,60 junior high school students who were in a position of identity diffusion and low sense of meaning in life were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group,30 people in each group,and the theme of improving self-identity was discussed.The effect of the group counseling program on junior high school students’ self-identity and sense of meaning in life.The results of the study are as follows:(1)The number of junior high school students whose self-identity is in the intermediate position of identity formation-authority acceptance(A-F position)is the largest,and the number of identity diffusion status(D position)is the least.(2)There is a significant positive correlation between present self-investment,desire for self-investment in the future,time management tendency,sense of seeking meaning and sense of possessing meaning.The correlation between past crises and time management tendencies is not significant,and the correlation with the search for meaning is not significant,but the correlation with the sense of meaning is marginal.(3)The time management tendency is completely mediating between the present self-investment and the sense of seeking meaning;it is partially mediating between the present self-investment and the sense of possessing meaning;the time management tendency is the desire of self-investment and the sense of seeking meaning in the future Intermediation is partly mediating,and partly mediating in the desire for self-investment in the future and the sense of meaning;however,the time management tendency does not mediate between past crises and sense of meaning.In the past crises and the search for meaning There is no intermediary between.(4)The self-compiled group counseling program has significantly improved the self-identity of junior high school students,thereby enhancing the sense of seeking and possessing meaning.Among them,the enhancement effect of having a sense of meaning is significant,while the enhancement effect of seeking a sense of meaning is marginally significant.
