The seventh national population census data shows that the population aged 60 and above in China is 264.02 million, accounting for 18.70% of the total population. The population aged 60-69 is 74.18 million, accounting for 5.26% of the total population.Compared with the sixth national population census data in 2010,the proportion of people aged 60 and above has increased by 5.44 percentage points, and the degree of population aging will further deepen. The Party and the government regard addressing population aging as an important development strategy and have made special arrangements in the "14th Five Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People’s Republic of China and the Outline of Long Range Goals for 2035".At present, the vast majority of elderly people in China mainly rely on home based elderly care.In home-based elderly care, empowering the elderly with a positive aging concept, stimulating the enthusiasm for mutual assistance in elderly care, and participating in the process of mutual assistance through their own actions can improve the quality of elderly care. This study takes X community in P city,Q city as an example, and uses questionnaire surveys and structured interviews to understand the elderly care mutual assistance behavior of young people in the community. It is found that there are problems with weak mutual aid awareness, single mutual aid content, low mutual aid willingness, and low degree of mutual aid organization among young people in urban communities. On the basis of problem analysis and needs assessment, this study chooses the theory of social support networks as the guidance, uses group social work methods to carry out mutual assistance services for the elderly, establishes mutual assistance groups for the elderly, and guides the elderly in urban communities to achieve mutual assistance in elderly care.A total of 8 group activities were carried out this time.Through the design and implementation of group activities, the awareness of mutual assistance for elderly care among team members was enhanced, the content of mutual assistance for elderly care was enriched, the initiative of mutual assistance for elderly care among team members was stimulated, and the degree of organization of mutual assistance for elderly care was improved. The service achieved initial results.Research has found that carrying out mutual assistance groups for the elderly in urban communities from the perspective of social support networks is the foundation for achieving mutual trust among group members.Cultivating group backbone can drive service recipients to interact more effectively, and effectively coordinating various resources in the community can provide effective support for achieving mutual assistance for the elderly. However, there are still areas for further improvement in this group service. In the future,in the process of group practice, formal and informal resources should be organically combined to strengthen the promotion and promotion of community elderly care mutual assistance, consolidate the effectiveness of group service, and stimulate community residents to participate in mutual elderly care.
