In December 2019,the Ministry of Education promulgated the Measures for the Management of Teaching Materials in Vocational Colleges and Universities,proposing that the preparation of teaching materials should highlight the characteristics of vocational education and conform to the law of talent growth,requiring the creation of high-quality teaching materials and the improvement of their quality;in addition,in December 2021,the Ministry of Education issued the Implementation Plan for the Construction of Vocational Education Planning Teaching Materials for the 14 th Five-Year Plan In addition,in December 2021,the Ministry of Education issued the Implementation Plan for the Construction of Vocational Education Teaching Materials for the 14 th Five-Year Plan.These policies show that the construction of high-quality vocational education teaching materials is being taken seriously.As one of the core foundation courses for secondary school secretarial majors,the professional etiquette course has strong operability and standardisation,and is important for developing students’ basic,vocational and service abilities.However,relevant studies have found that some of the secondary secretarial professional etiquette teaching materials have less practical skills content,students are not enthusiastic about learning the materials,and the training objectives of the materials are not clear.And related studies have shown that teaching materials have received less attention in the three education reforms,resulting in a certain lag in the quality of teaching materials.Therefore,it is particularly important to optimise and reform the teaching materials.The research on the optimisation of the teaching materials of the Code of Professional Etiquette for secondary school secretarial majors has gone through five main stages.In the first stage,the literature research method was used to sort out the relevant literature at home and abroad and define the relevant core concepts in order to gain an in-depth understanding of the development status of vocational education teaching materials and secondary school teaching materials.In this process,scholars identified Dewey’s pragmatic theory of education,constructivist theory and contextual cognitive learning theory as theories for studying vocational teaching materials,and after comprehensive analysis,the above theories were also taken as the theoretical basis for studying teaching materials.In the second stage,the text analysis method was used to conduct a comparative textual analysis of three different versions of secretarial etiquette textbooks in four dimensions: the objectives of the textbook,the content and structure of the textbook,the way the textbook is presented,and the setting of exercises,to summarise the strengths and weaknesses of the different versions of the textbook.The results of the textual analysis were finally placed on the textbook being used,Code of Professional Etiquette.In terms of the curriculum standards for secretarial etiquette,the textbook’s implementation of the curriculum standards is analysed in terms of cognitive,skill and affective objectives.In the analysis of the setting of exercises,the strengths and weaknesses of the textbook are compared and analysed in three aspects: the number and types of exercises,the location of exercises and the context of exercises.In the third stage,a survey was conducted on the current situation of the 2009 edition of the Code of Professional Etiquette textbook,taking students of secondary vocational schools majoring in secretarial studies as the target group of the study.Through questionnaires and interviews with front-line teachers,the objectives of the textbook,the content and structure of the textbook,the presentation of the textbook and the setting of exercises were investigated and analysed.The investigation found that the textbook had vague objectives,outdated content,a single form of textbook,insufficient digital resources and a single type of exercises,and then the reasons for the shortcomings were identified.In the fourth stage,the optimization strategy and optimization effect of the textbook of Professional Etiquette for secondary school secretarial majors,this part addresses the shortcomings of the textbook of secondary school secretarial etiquette,combines the curriculum standards and job requirements of secondary school secretarial,combines the learning psychological characteristics of students,draws on relevant vocational education theories,proposes the optimization method of the textbook based on the optimization principles with vocational education characteristics,finally presents the optimization sample chapter,and puts the optimization sample chapter The sample chapters were then put into teaching practice to test the optimisation effect.The results of the study show that students’ evaluation of the teaching materials in four aspects,namely the objectives of the teaching materials,the content and structure of the teaching materials,the presentation of the teaching materials and the setting of the exercises,are more in line with students’ expectations.Thus,the optimisation of the teaching materials has achieved certain results.However,there are some issues that need to be taken into account after the practical work has been carried out.The research has revealed that,in terms of the teaching materials themselves,it is impossible to achieve uniformity in the selection of teaching materials because of the regional nature of vocational education.There are also differences in the choice of teaching materials.Due to the different nature of the professions,etiquette teaching materials should be more targeted,and this textbook is biased towards the direction of commerce and trade,and is not very relevant to the secretarial profession.In terms of teachers,the secondary development of the materials by teachers is a test of their skills.On the student side,the infrequent use of the textbook by students is evidence that the textbook is not functional enough to assist students in their skills acquisition.Therefore,strategies are proposed in the outlook section: firstly,the selection of teaching materials should be relevant to the profession;secondly,to improve teachers’ understanding of the materials;and thirdly,to increase students’ motivation to use the materials.
