Since the release of the 2022 compulsory education curriculum and subject standards, interdisciplinary thematic learning has received high attention in secondary school teaching.Conducting interdisciplinary thematic learning has practical significance for overcoming the shortcomings of subject-based courses and cultivating comprehensive talents.Implementing a literacy-oriented interdisciplinary thematic learning approach is an important measure to implement the current compulsory education reform. The comprehensive and practical characteristics of geography courses are highly compatible with the concept of interdisciplinary learning. It is both necessary and feasible to carry out interdisciplinary thematic learning in middle school geography courses.Through investigation,it was found that middle school geography teachers have a certain understanding of interdisciplinary thematic learning, but few have implemented it.Teachers generally believe that the integration of interdisciplinary content is difficult, teaching time is tight, and there is a lack of experience and relevant case studies, which are the difficulties faced in implementing interdisciplinary thematic learning. They also hope to receive guidance and reference on teaching models and case resources.Based on this, this paper proposes an implementation strategy for literacy-oriented interdisciplinary thematic learning through literature collection, survey research, case study, and action research, and constructs a theoretical model for guiding implementation. The feasibility of the model is demonstrated through case studies, and the effect of literacy cultivation is discussed, with the aim of providing reference and discussion value for frontline teachers. The study found that constructing a literacy-based interdisciplinary thematic learning model can be systematically designed from four aspects: goal setting, content integration, organizational implementation, and result evaluation. The strategy for implementing interdisciplinary thematic learning activities includes: 1)selecting topics that consider both comprehensiveness and extensibility;2)clarifying goals that emphasize both geographical literacy and interdisciplinary literacy;3)integrating content to connect knowledge, activities, and literacy;4)implementing teaching that focuses on problem-solving and knowledge construction;5)using multiple evaluations to focus on process generation and result motivation.Based on the above framework design model and implementation strategy, this paper designed and implemented an interdisciplinary thematic learning case study called "Knowing Water,Making Good Use of It-Discovering Water Resources Around Us." After the case study was implemented and evaluated,it was found that the literacy-oriented interdisciplinary thematic learning model is feasible for guiding interdisciplinary teaching design. In terms of literacy cultivation, the results are considerable and measurable. At the same time, through expert and peer teacher evaluation feedback, the author reflected on the shortcomings of the case study and conducted secondary improvement and implementation. The results show that middle school geography interdisciplinary thematic learning can fully utilize in-class and out-of-class learning resources for good integration, realize the comprehensive and practical characteristics of geography courses, and develop students’ comprehensive literacy, achieving the value of collaborative education.
