Banteay Meanchey Province is one of the main areas with a long history of Chinese schools in Cambodia.The province started to establish Chinese schools in 1935.It has been more than 80 years since its establishment,and the development of Chinese education in the province still faces many problems and difficulties,especially the use of teaching materials.Textbooks are an important factor in education and teaching.Whether teachers or students,both of them are indispensable in the process of teaching and learning.Therefore,it is necessary for research the use of teaching materials in the province.The use of Chinese textbooks for primary schools in Banteay Meanchey Province in Cambodia is: "Huawen" and "zhongwen" are the main textbooks,supplemented by other textbooks such as "Happy Chinese","Easy Chinese","General Knowledge",and "Mathematics".Most of these Chinese textbooks are published by Chinese mainland,and some are published by the Cambodian-Chinese Council.This thesis mainly studies the use of textbooks in Chinese primary schools in the province,including the distribution of textbooks,sources,effects of teaching materials used by teachers and students,problems in the use of teaching materials,local teachers and students’ demand for teaching materials,and countermeasures for teachers and students to use teaching materials.Contents such as revision suggestions put forward by the textbook.In the actual investigation and interview work,the author recorded these issues in detail and analyzed them one by one.The problems in the use of textbooks for teachers and students in primary school in Banteay Meanchey Province are mainly concentrated in the three aspects of vocabulary,text and grammar in the textbook.This article aims to analyze the problems in the textbooks,and finally puts forward targeted revision suggestions,hoping to promote the development of Chinese language teaching in Cambodia,and also design localized textbooks in Cambodia as reference materials for future generations.
