With the promotion of the new curriculum reform,in order to play a key role in the fundamental task of "building morality and cultivating people" and reflect the unique educational value of the geography discipline,the Ministry of Education of China released the Geography Curriculum Standards for Ordinary High Schools(2017 Edition)in 2018.The new curriculum standard takes the concept of human land coordination,comprehensive thinking,regional cognition and geographical practice as the four core qualities of geography.Regional cognitive literacy is an indispensable way of thinking and ability to analyze and solve geographical problems,and an important tool to understand the world.The components of regional cognitive ability include regional location,regional division,regional characteristics,regional differences,regional associations,and regional development.In teaching,how to effectively cultivate students’ regional cognitive ability has become a hot topic in the current geography education research.The scale idea is divided into six dimensions: scale division,scale matching,scale correlation,scale effect,scale selection and scale inference.Scale thought is an important thought of geography,and also an important tool to cultivate regional cognitive ability.Therefore,under the guidance of the scale thought,this paper studies and discusses the teaching strategies of regional cognitive ability training.Taking Santai Middle School in Santai County,Sichuan Province as an example,this paper investigates and analyzes the application of students’ and teachers’ regional cognitive level and scale thinking by means of questionnaires and interviews,and accordingly proposes teaching strategies for regional cognitive ability training,and conducts empirical research.Through research,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The students’ level of regional cognition is relatively low,especially in regional division and selection.(2)Teachers lack effective means to cultivate students’ regional cognitive ability.Most teachers also often use the scale idea to cultivate students’ regional cognitive ability,but the systematic application is less;Due to the lack of comprehensive understanding of regional cognition and scale ideas,there are some difficulties in the use process,and there is also a lack of theoretical guidance and practical teaching reference.(3)Scale division and scale selection are helpful to understand the regional hierarchical relationship and the purpose of regional division,as well as to recognize and describe the regional location;Scale correlation and scale deduction can help students grasp regional characteristics more comprehensively,systematically and accurately;In the comparative analysis of regional differences,the use of scale matching can help students detect regional differences more quickly from their own regional characteristics;The scale effect helps students to analyze the rationality of development planning in different historical stages from a longer time scale and a larger spatial scale,and its impact on different spatial scales,so that development planning can really adapt to the time and local conditions.(4)Through comparative experiments,it is proved that the implementation of the teaching strategy of regional cognitive ability training can not only improve students’ regional cognitive level,but also improve teachers’ professional quality.
