| Domestic violence is a social issue of global concern, and the essence of it is the control of the perpetrators due to gender inequality.Domestic violence has brought women great harm physically and psychologically, which leads to the family instability and brings hidden danger to social stability.Taking the social support network theory as the main theoretical framework, this paper interviews the battered women, including social workers, the Women’s Federation cadres, judicial mediators and police,in urban areas of F with observational and interviewing methods, and it focuses on the status of these battered women, analyzes the reasons for the weak social support of them and puts forward the strategies of social work to intervene in domestic violence.First, this paper comprehensively analyzes the status of the raped women in the city of F from the reasons of the domestic violence, the current situation of their asking for help and the intervention of the formal support system on them.Analyzed from three dimensions of individual, family and society, the needs of the raped women mainly contain the safety protection, psychological support, legal aid, economic assistance, temporary asylum and medical services. The research shows that compared with the formal support system such as the Women’s Federation, the victims tend to request help from informal systems such as relatives and friends;however, the bilateral failure of giving effective support to these victims are quite the same.Secondly, this paper analyzes the reasons for the weak social support of the raped women from the three aspects of informal support, formal support and violent women. The results show that the reasons for the weak informal support lie in the family connivance, apathetic neighborhood, narrow social circle, and the insufficient colleagues support. The reasons for the weak formal support include capital scarcity of the social framework, insufficient professionals, inadequate professional literacy, and the failure of relevant departments to perform anti domestic violence work in accordance with the provisions of the anti domestic violence law as well as the lack of mufti-sector linkage mechanism for anti domestic violence work.Besides, the social services that the Women’s Federation purchases stay in consultation and mediation mode, and police fail to truly safeguard the rights and interests of those raped women. What’s more, judicial institutions that intervene in family violence has the tendency of "condemning" the victims.Thinking of their children, the fear of violence force and threat, and the reliance on the perpetrators economically, these women rarely turn to nor they dare to ask the outsider for help.Thirdly, the paper proposes the strategies of social work intervention in the violence women from three aspects: building informal support network, building formal support network and improving social support utilization.First, the strategies to construct informal support network include the strengthening social advocacy, stabilizing family support, forming mutual support and promoting neighborhood support.Second, the strategy of building formal support network include carrying out psychological intervention of the victims, formulation of the victim safety plan, the linking social resources of all departments, and the establishment of a group of perpetrators’ guidance.Third, the strategies to improve the utilization of social support of the raped women consist of the following aspects: cultivating the awareness of help seeking, improving their economic ability and promoting their self empowerment. |
