With the acceleration of social rhythm,many parents,influenced by work and economic conditions,prefer to leave their children to their grandparents for care and education.The emergence of skipped generation households eased the young parents because of busy work,no time to take care of their children’s problems.However,it is precisely because young parents do not have enough time and energy to take care of their underage children due to various reasons such as work and life,and grandparents assume or replace the original role of parents,it makes the family system out of balance because of the change of family structure,the interaction between children and parents in the family is reduced,and the necessary emotional communication is lacking,which is not conducive to the healthy development of parent-child relationship.This thesis chooses the Y community in Jinan as an example.Through the social workers’ visits and questionnaires to the families of generation gap in Y community,the following problems are found: the frequency of parent-child communication is too low;The content of parent-child communication is single;parent-child interaction is prone to conflict;the intimacy between parents and children is insufficient.In this study,we chose the way of group work to form mutual help group,based on family system theory and cognitive behavior theory,to help parents of step-by-step parenting families understand the developmental stage of their children,master parent-child communication skills,improve the emotional bond between parents and children,and formulate good family rules,to help improve the parent-child relationship between parents and children in y community,and to help parents provide a safe and warm environment for children’s healthy development.Finally,the process of the activity,the effect of the activity analysis,draw conclusions and reflect.Based on the research,this paper draws the following conclusions: the intervention of group work helps parents to improve their relationship with their children,their children trust their parents more,and they are more willing to share their feelings and school life,at the same time,the group activities have helped to improve the differences between parents and grandparents in the upbringing of their children and to change the phenomenon of quarrels caused by different upbringing ideas The intervention of social work can help the gap-generation families deal with parent-child relationship better.At last,the author gives some reflections on this research: to improve social workers’ professional knowledge and practical ability;to unite community workers,volunteers and experts,and to exert the function of social workers’ resource connection.
