| Physical self-esteem refers to an individual’s satisfaction or dissatisfaction with different aspects of their body.As an important component of overall self-esteem,it has a predictive effect on an individual’s mental health status.The new era and new journey call for the backbone of comprehensive development and the new generation who can shoulder the responsibility of national rejuvenation.Psychological health,aesthetic education,and communication skills are of great significance for the success of young college students.Physical exercise can significantly improve an individual’s physical self-esteem level and effectively promote mental health.Fitness and bodybuilding,as an important part of sports,emphasizes the benefits of improving people’s psychological condition,enhancing aesthetic education,and promoting interpersonal communication.This article conducts empirical research by analyzing the current situation of physical self-esteem among college students majoring in fitness and bodybuilding,as well as the relationship between physical self-esteem and performance indicators(positive emotions,social avoidance,and dressing satisfaction),to explore whether fitness and bodybuilding can become an effective way to improve the mental health status of college students,enhance aesthetic education and interpersonal communication abilities.Using the methods of literature review,questionnaire survey and mathematical statistics,this study took the physical self-esteem of college students majoring in bodybuilding as the research object,and measured 208 college students majoring in bodybuilding by using the Physical Self-Perception Profile revised by Xu Xia,the Positive Emotions Self Rating Scale compiled by Fredrickson,B.L,the Social Avoidance and Distress Scale compiled by Watson&Friend,and the Dress Satisfaction Scale compiled by Yang Yiwen.The research results show that:(1)The Physical Self-Perception Profile(PSPP)has good internal consistency and structural validity,and is positively correlated with the criterion of positive emotions and dressing satisfaction,while negatively correlated with social avoidance.It is suitable for studying the physical self-esteem of college students majoring in fitness and bodybuilding.(2)The internal structure of physical self-esteem among college students majoring in fitness and bodybuilding includes five dimensions: self-worth,exercise ability,physical condition,physical attractiveness,and physical fitness.(3)The physical self-esteem level of college students majoring in bodybuilding and bodybuilding is higher than that of college students majoring in wushu routine,aerobics and sports dance.(4)There is no significant difference in demography variables such as gender,grade,and place of origin of fitness and bodybuilding students’ physical self-esteem.(5)The physical self-esteem of college students majoring in fitness and bodybuilding as a mediator has a predictive effect on positive emotions,social avoidance,and dressing satisfaction.According to the degree of impact,the order is: social avoidance>dressing satisfaction>positive emotions.(6)Fitness and bodybuilding exercises have a positive effect on the improvement of interpersonal communication skills,aesthetic awareness,and positive emotional stimulation of specialized college students,which is conducive to the improvement of their mental health level.Based on the conclusion,the following suggestions are proposed:(1)Offering specialized,minor,and elective courses in fitness and Bodybuilding providing various solutions to alleviate psychological stress.(2)Innovate teaching methods and enrich the new connotations of aesthetic education teaching.(3)Carry out various forms of extracurricular fitness and fitness activities and competitions,and expand interpersonal communication platforms.(4)Create a good sports environment and combine it with new media promotion to stimulate the interest of college students in participating in fitness and fitness activities. |
