Textbook illustrations are not only available resources for teachers,but also attract students’ attention more easily than text textbooks.How to creatively apply illustrations to promote the development of students’ core literacy is an important issue in the field of textbook illustration research.Based on the illustrations in the compulsory one textbook of senior high school physics published by People’s Education Press,this paper explores the influence of textbook illustrations on cultivating students’ core literacy.Therefore,it makes an in-depth study on the effect of illustrations and the application strategies of illustrations from the perspective of students.Based on dual coding theory and the cognitive theory of multimedia learning,this paper investigates the influence of illustrations from students’ perspective,and analyzes the influence of illustrations in senior high school physics textbooks published by People’s Education Press in2019 on students,so as to find out the influence of textbook illustrations on cultivating students’ core literacy,help teachers dig deeply into textbooks,provide some suggestions for teachers to creatively use illustrations,and then draw a set of effective methods and strategies to train students’ core literacy by using illustrations,so that textbook illustrations can better play a role in improving students’ core literacy.Through the research on the overall distribution of textbook illustrations,it is found that the content involved in textbook illustrations is very rich,including humanistic feelings,natural landscapes and data analysis,which also reflects the expansibility of textbook illustrations.Textbook illustrations are designed and distributed in line with students’ cognitive characteristics.Different physical knowledge has corresponding illustrations,which can not only adapt to students’ learning content at all stages,but also stimulate students’ interest in the physical world.Whether illustrations can play a role or how much they can play depends on the preparation of teachers before using textbooks.Therefore,if we want to give full play to the role of illustrations,teachers need to analyze the contents,categories and functions of textbook illustrations before class,and apply illustrations in a targeted manner.Through students’ cognitive analysis of illustrations,we can find that textbook illustrations can have an impact on students in all aspects of core literacy,and the author summarizes some ways to use them according to these effects.In terms of material concept,students can integrate the basic concept of physics and improve their understanding of physics when reading illustrations,and at the same time,they will be influenced by relevant texts.In the interaction between texts and illustrations,illustrations can have a deeper impact on students.Teachers can teach through the way of text-illustration-text,with illustrations as the fulcrum and starting from the text,describe concepts or phenomena to students in the form of words.In terms of scientific thinking,illustrations reflect the model construction,scientific reasoning,scientific argumentation and methods,and questioning and innovation in scientific thinking.Students can have their own understanding of these methods through illustrations.Teachers need to summarize and analyze the application scenarios and contents of illustrations.You can also expand the content of illustrations,design experiments for illustrations,or find life-oriented scenarios,and carry out diversified teaching from illustrations.In scientific inquiry,illustrations can help teachers create experimental scenarios,help students understand experimental principles,design experiments and analyze experimental results.Teachers can also train some steps in the complete process of scientific inquiry through illustrations to cultivate students’ scientific inquiry thinking.In terms of scientific attitude and responsibility,students can understand illustrations with their own reserve knowledge and feel the scientific essence,scientific attitude and social responsibility contained in illustrations.When teachers use illustrations to cultivate students’ scientific attitude and responsibility,they should prepare to expand the content in advance,determine the teaching objectives of using illustrations,encourage students to discuss and give full play to the role of illustrations.To sum up,the author puts forward several strategies such as creating scenes,interactive strategies,dynamic strategies and systematic strategies to creatively use illustrations.These strategies are actively applied to practice,and the teaching design of Free Falling Motion is carried out,and the illustrated teaching process is summarized to optimize the application of illustrations in teaching,so as to provide reference for teachers’ teaching and students’ learning.
