The Opium War is the beginning of modern China,and has a profound impact on the development and transformation of modern China.The content of the Opium War occupies a special position in middle school history textbooks.Illustrations are an integral part of history textbooks.A long period of investigation into the illustrations related to the Opium War can reflect the changes and development of the illustrations in middle school history textbooks in the past hundred years.The illustration types of the two Opium Wars in history textbooks mainly include historical portrait,historical site,historical relic,historical painting,historical map and table diagram.The "lost maps" of the Republic of China reflect the distinctive characteristics of The Times,such as the portrait of Lin Zexu and the ruins of the Old Summer Palace,which are still in use today.The illustrations of the two Opium Wars are mainly presented through the cover,title page,front page of the unit and the main text.The pictures of the Opium Wars are placed on the cover to reflect the main features of the book.Opium War map on the title page,stimulate interest,for the study of the foundation;The opium War picture is displayed on the front page of the unit.Opium War picture in the text,directly present a certain content,and the text supplement each other.The illustrations of the two Opium Wars have multiple functions,such as shaping characters,positioning space and time coordinates,cultivating feelings of family and country,and demonstrating people's power,and further reflect the writing changes of relevant contents.Finally,returning to history education and teaching,aiming at the problems of illustration teaching: emphasizing theory over practice,quantity over quality,surface over core,history education and teaching in middle schools should further strengthen the status of illustration,give full play to the role of illustration in the cultivation system of subject core literacy,and improve the quality of talent cultivation.
