| With the implementation of the "three-child" policy, more and more families are having more than one child. In these families, the first child is transformed from an only child to an older child, who is still at an immature stage of cognitive development and is unable to adapt to the new family structure, and may suffer from emotional anxiety such as irritability and irritability. If these anxieties are not channeled in a timely manner, they can have many negative effects on their growth. Therefore, this study uses family systems theory as a guide to intervene in the emotional anxiety of eldest children in multi-child families. The focus of this study is to alleviate the emotional anxiety of these children after the birth of their younger siblings. The study uses a casework approach to help the caseworkers to alleviate their emotional anxiety and restore family harmony through intervention and counselling. We first approached community members, family members, teachers and the client herself, using observation and interview methods to assess the client’s problems and to analyse the underlying causes of her emotional anxiety,on the basis of which we developed a service plan. After formulating the service plan, appropriate methods were found to eliminate the client’s irrational perceptions, promote the client’s relationship with her family, repair the client’s relationship with her family, alleviate the client’s anxiety, and enable the client and her family to establish a positive internal communication style and new family rules, thus enhancing the family’s ability to cope with the emotional anxiety of their eldest child. In terms of effectiveness, the following conclusions were drawn throughout the intervention: 1.the need to alleviate the emotional anxiety of the eldest child in a multi-child family;2.the effectiveness of the family systems theory in alleviating the emotional anxiety of the eldest child;3.the finding that fun activities to alleviate the emotional anxiety of the eldest child made the intervention with the minor child more effective;the strength of the peer group to alleviate the emotional anxiety of the eldest child The varied service roles in the casework were effective in alleviating the emotional anxiety of the eldest child in a multi-child family. However, due to the shortage of time and experience, the methods and techniques used in the case study may not be applicable to other families with multiple children;there was little intervention with the grandmother and late intervention with the case manager;and the influence of the marital relationship of the parents on the emotional anxiety of the eldest child was overlooked in the intervention process. After the case work was completed, based on the intervention process, the author also made suggestions to alleviate the emotional anxiety of the eldest child in multi-child families: to explore various ways to alleviate the emotional anxiety of the eldest child in multi-child families;to strengthen the communication between parents and eldest child and to establish good communication patterns;to foster a sense of responsibility among the eldest child and to promote positive sibling interaction;and finally,we should Lastly,we should link up with external resources to help improve parenting styles to alleviate the emotional anxiety of eldest children in multi-child families. |
