School participation reflects the attendance,class participation and the participation of school activities,which is an important grip on students’ development,and an essential index of educational equity.However,as important parts of special education,researches on the school participation of students in schools for intellectual disabilities are quite rare.The research investigates the status quos of school participation of students in J School,utilizing mixed methods.Research 1 adapts self-compiled questionnaires to investigate the status quos of school participation of 120 students studying in School J in City S,and to find the disparities caused by demographic variables.Research 2adapts self-compiled questionnaires to investigate the influential factors of school participation of the 120 students;selects 8 students to attain detail information by interviewing surrounding parents and teachers.The conclusions of this paper are as follows.First,the status quos of school participation of students in schools for intellectual disabilities are on average;it goes up with the growing age;girls get better school participation than boys.Then,school participation is affected by individual factors(disabilities and health,attention,learning competence,emotion and behavioral issues,interest),family factors(distance between school and home,parents’ thoughts of education,interaction between school and home),school factors(hardware,school management,teaching,peers)and society factors(coronavirus pandemic,rehabilitation resources)in an interactive and dynamic way.Accordingly,to develop the school participation of students in schools for intellectual disabilities,the paper suggests(1)improving students’ interest and capability,(2)upgrading the hardware and software of school,(3)stimulating family’s involvement in raising students’ school participation,(4)optimizing rehabilitation resources.
