| With the rapid expansion of enrollment in higher education,the number of graduate students in colleges and universities skyrocketed,and there are obvious structural contradictions.In addition,various industrial chains,economies and trade around the world have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,leading to economic recession and shrinking demand in the job market.Such an oversupply in the job market makes the job competition more and more fierce,and the employment of Chinese postgraduate students is facing an unprecedented challenge.Therefore,it is urgent to explore employers’ preference for candidates,and conclude that they pay more attention to job seekers’ clear career planning in terms of subjective quality,and implement rich employment practices and ability preparation in action.Through the literature review and review of the concept connotation,measurement system and influencing factors of the three variables of career adaptability,employment preparation and employment quality at home and abroad,it is known that the theoretical research and practical application of career adaptability and employment preparation by domestic scholars is still in the initial stage.Therefore,this paper attempts to study the relationship among career adaptability,employment preparation and employment quality,explore their influence mechanism and action path,and put forward research hypotheses based on the theoretical basis and literature review of career construction theory,human capital theory and labor market theory,and conduct questionnaire and interview surveys on 2021 and 2022 postgraduate students in Shanghai universities.Based on this analysis of the current situation and correlation between the three variables,a structural equation model of career adaptability,employment preparation and employment quality is constructed to test the mediating effect of employment preparation in "career adaptability → employment quality".In addition,it is necessary to analyze the difference of the whole and the adjustment effect in the model based on personal basic information.Through the research,it is concluded that the career adaptability,employment preparation and employment quality of postgraduate students are good;There are significant differences among different groups in gender,personality,political status,type of master’s institution,major category,entrance to college,nature of employment unit,education level of parents,family location category and economic level.There is a significant positive correlation between career adaptability,employment preparation and employment quality.Employment preparation has a significant and partial mediating effect on the relationship between career adaptability and employment quality.Gender,personality,political status,major type,undergraduate college type,master’s college type,parents’ education level,family economic level,college entrance route have a moderating effect on the model of employment quality mechanism.Based on the above research conclusions,this paper puts forward the following suggestions for universities,governments and individuals: The government should create a fair,just and open employment market environment,and construct and improve the monitoring,tracking and feedback mechanism of the employment quality of master’s degree students.Colleges and universities should strengthen career education,create systematic and scientific career education courses,monitor their employment situation,assist the government to build a supervision and security mechanism,strengthen employment guidance and enrich employment resources,and improve the employment information service platform.Students can enhance their competitiveness by improving their career adaptability and employment preparation to cope with changes in society. |
