The characteristics of alignment between textbooks and curriculum standards play important role in examining the implementation process of curriculum standards.This research investigated the alignment characteristics between Korean junior high school curriculum standards and textbooks from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives,based on the overall characteristics of the Korean junior high school curriculum standards and textbook exercise system,with the help of SEC alignment analysis model and the framework of constructive alignment theory.The research found that the Korean language curriculum focuses on practicality,comprehensiveness,and humanism,and divides the curriculum content into five separate modules of listening and speaking,reading,writing,grammar,and literature,and organizes the learning of the Korean language curriculum based on the content modules.Based on the achievement standards under each content module,the Korean language curriculum standards indicate the direction of teaching-learning activities and evaluation activities.The Korean language textbook exercise system is diverse in form and content.In terms of design,it focuses on the quality of the binding,color matching and spatial layout,and rich illustrations;in terms of structure,the Korean textbook exercise system uses a variety of learning activities throughout the unit design,including guided activities,knowledge activities,comprehension activities,inquiry activities,application activities,and evaluation activities;in terms of content organization,the Korean textbook exercise system is learner In terms of content organization,the practice system of Korean textbooks is learner-centered,closely related to real life,with emphasis on the creation of contexts,coherence and integrity among different learning activities,and emphasis on process guidance and methodological guidance for learning.According to the results of Porter’s alignment coefficient P,the alignment index between the exercise system and the curriculum standards was highest for the Korean version of Jihakusha,followed by the Gifted Education-Park Youngmu version,and the lowest for the Fisho Education and Gold Star versions.The researcher further analyzed the textbook exercise system of the Jihakusha version,which had the highest alignment index,using constructive alignment theory,and found that the Jihakusha textbook exercise system was highly aligned with the Korean curriculum standards in terms of expected learning outcomes,learning activities,and evaluation activities.Based on the above findings and the actual development of the Chinese language curriculum,the following recommendations were made: first,to strengthen the guiding role of the standards in textbook development and to refine the basic principles of textbook compilation;second,the content and form of textbook exercise systems should be enriched.Specifically,Chinese language textbooks should strengthen binding design,update learning content in a timely manner,develop the value of Chinese character education,and emphasize oral training;third,the research of alignment between curriculum standards and textbooks should be emphasized,and the construction of integration between the two should be promoted. |
