Since Shanghai started the second curriculum reform, high school mathematics textbooks have experienced several great changes.Recently, high school mathematics textbooks have been structurally divided into two categories: compulsory and elective.Compared with compulsory courses, the optional compulsory courses train students’ mathematical thinking ability more and aim to guide students to use mathematical techniques and strategies to solve practical problems, which coincides with the concept of project-based learning.Project-based learning,in which teachers and students collaborate on projects to help students learn, has flourished around the world since the 21 st century.Project-based learning advocates that students take the initiative to determine learning objectives, formulate learning methods and solve problems.Under the background of the current curriculum reform,it has become a trend to apply project-based teaching means to teaching. In the previous research results, there are few researches on high school mathematics with this teaching method, and the relevant literature content is not rich. Therefore, based on the previous researches on project-oriented learning theory, this project combines constructivism learning theory, pragmatism learning theory,cognition-discovery theory and other project-oriented theories.Starting with learning cases such as Finding the zero point of a Function by Dichotomy,Water hyacinth Growth Rate Problem,Exploration including Absolute Value Function and Attractive Consumption Voucher, the paper applies project-based learning to high school mathematics, and explores the role of project-based learning in improving students’ mathematical literacy and the applicability of project-based learning in the field of high school mathematics through questionnaires and interviews.
