With the Ordinary Senior Middle School Geography Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)came into being, the cultivation of geographic thinking has become a new direction for deepening curriculum reform in the tide of the new round of curriculum reform. However, the current state of high-school education in China is criticized by many educators. We urgently need a teaching model oriented to the cultivation of geographic thinking to implement a "student-centered" learning method. While based on subject knowledge,project-based learning is connected to the real world, which aim at completing project works by self-learning,cooperative learning and inquiry learning.Carrying out diverse geographic practical activities in real situations through selflearning, cooperative learning and inquiry learning is also in line with the requirements of the new curriculum standards.Therefore,project-based learning is an educational concept that fits into the new curriculum,as well as a mothed to develop students' geographic thinking. This article starts from domestic and foreign literature related to "project-based learning",combines the current status of geography class and the urgency of cultivating geographic literacy, which realizes the research value of "project-based learning under the perspective of geographic key competencies".First, the literature review method was used to define the concepts of project-based learning and geographic project-based learning. It is proved that project-learning applies to researching core concepts and essential issues, and also trips-learning according to the characteristic of projectlearning. And then compared with the traditional teaching model and analyzed the relationship between project-based learning and geography thinking in order to highlight the advantage of project-based learning model. To find out the current dilemma of carrying out project-based learning, interviewing and questionnaire survey are the main research methods to obtain realistic evidence.Based on the theoretical foundation and actual data, the relationship between project-based learning systems is analyzed, and the six design principles of project-based learning are summarized, also, which set up a teaching model with the five main stages, including options, fixed items, research, conclusion and evaluation. This model divides courses into two categories, human geography and physical geography. As a learning strategy, using projectlearning in human and physical geography lessons has been put forward by comparing teaching contents between those two courses above. At last,in order to set up a teaching example and promote carrying out project-learning,the two teaching cases from human geography and physical geography are designed as examples according to the theory above.
