A class teacher is a class organizer,educator,guide and manager,and is a position with multiple tasks.The management style of the class teacher will have an impact on the development of the students.In different class management styles,the impact on the students will be different.The class teacher’s management style will form a unique class atmosphere,that will have an impact on the students’ learning outcomes.Faced with the unfair treatment of the national education policy,Malaysian independent high schools continue to communicate using their mother-tongue,Mandarin to be specific.The school’s policies and teachers are key to students’ learning,and the class teachers plays a vital part in students’ learning situation.The class teacher is the implementor,communicator,and leader between the school and the students,so the management style of the class teacher also has an impact on student learning.This study explores and analyses the impact of class teacher management style on students’ performance in L Independent Middle School in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia.The management styles of class teachers are mainly divided into three categories: democratic,authoritarian,and laissez-faire.This study will discuss the factors that affect the class teacher’s management style and explore whether different background variables will affect the class teacher’s management style;by comparing the gender,age,education,teaching experience and other aspects of the class teacher’s background to find out the key influence.The research will discuss about the management style of the class teacher that is mainly reflected in the communication between the class teacher and the students,the learning atmosphere of the students in the classroom,as well as any aspects related to student learning circumstances.After sorting out relevant literature,this research produced two questionnaires based on the research on the management style of class teachers: namely the student questionnaire,and the class teacher questionnaire.The questionnaires analysed the formation of class teacher’s management style on class,and the impact of that management style on students’ learning,from the perspective of students and class teachers.After Anova analysis by the SPSS software,it was found that(1)the background variables of class teachers have a significant effect on the performance of students in the class;(2)the background variables of class teachers have no significant impact on students’ learning situation;(3)In the construction of class management style,the analysis of the student questionnaire is significant,but the analysis of the class teacher’s questionnaire is not significant.The study found that students will be affected by the class teacher’s class management method to the construction of the class management,but it has little effect on individual learning.According to the analysis results obtained from the questionnaire,10 students and 5 class teachers were interviewed in a group study on targeted questions to further explore the impact of the class teacher’s management style on students’ learning.Combining questionnaires,interview data and relevant literature,the researchers put forward the following suggestions:class teachers need to learn more from each other to improve their own class management capabilities;the school needs more training for class teachers to manage the classes more professionally,so as to meet the needs of students’ all-round development;the improvement of the class management ability of the class teacher will further optimize the learning atmosphere of the class and provide favorable conditions for the all-round development of students.
