In recent years,the number of overseas Chinese learners has increased,and Chinese language instruction for people of Chinese heritage has become increasingly popular.Overseas ethnic Chinese learners of Chinese,primarily young people,are in huge numbers.In contrast,there is still a scarcity of a suitably tailored overseas Chinese textbook with appropriate applicability.The Unified Edition(referred to as the ministry edition)primary school YUWEN textbook has become a compromise choice for many institutions,parents and teachers,and is one of the typical textbooks that Chinese language education ultimately chooses.As a result,the adaptation research of ministry edition textbook is particularly vital prior to the introduction of new special-purpose textbooks.At present,there are few academic achievements on the application of domestic language teaching materials in Overseas Chinese Education.Based on the practice of teaching Chinese to ethnic Chinese students in a Chinese language tutoring institution in the United States,and on the basis of adaptability research,this article makes an attempt to adapt the first grade textbook of ministry edition YUWEN for primary schools.This research examines the application of the YUWEN textbooks of grade one of primary school(ministry edition)in overseas Chinese education from two perspectives:static and dynamic.Starting with the textbook itself,the static portion focuses on the curricular objectives,outlines,and concepts,as well as the words,texts,communication items,culture,and other elements that make up the textbook.The merits and disadvantages of the textbook itself,as well as its applicability,are explored from many perspectives through the study of each constituent piece.In terms of dynamics,it primarily examines the individual circumstances of instructors and students as they use these textbooks,as well as parents and educational administrators.The variables impacting overseas Chinese education and the implementation of Chinese textbooks are examined from diverse viewpoints based on interviews with Chinese teachers and student questionnaires.We believe that the number of Chinese characters,difficulty arrangement,and text content in the YUWEN textbooks of grade one of primary school(ministry edition)conform to the level of knowledge and psychological development of primary school students,and fit well with ethnic Chinese students,based on the above investigation and analysis.These strengths of YUWEN textbooks make them have the potential to be used in teaching Chinese overseas.In response to the inapplicability of the textbook,the thesis uses the first grade textbooks of Primary School YUWEN as a sample to implement targeted adaptations and teaching practices,taking into account the teaching targets and the local situation.The specific adaptation approach of each individual piece is optimized mainly from three perspectives: targeted adjustment of six language skills,adjustment of the practicability of text content and scenarios,supplementary of experiential cultural factors.Among them,the targeted adjustment of the six language skills starts from the six language skills of listening,speaking,reading,writing,translation,and typing;the adjustment of the practicability of text content and scenarios mainly includes adjusting the words and sentences of the text content,and adding and modifying the dialogue of the text style;the supplementary of experiential cultural factors includes adjusting some content and adding ethnic culture.By discussing the adaptability of domestic local Chinese textbooks in Overseas Chinese Education,the paper initially explores the model process of adaptation when using fixed teaching materials in overseas Chinese education,and conducts teaching practice verification.On the whole,through the optimization of words,texts,communication topics,cultural content,etc.,the textbooks can better meet the Chinese language teaching goals for ethnic Chinese students and better meet the teaching needs.
