| The healthy growth of children is related to the future of the country and the nation.Good sleep is the basic condition for the healthy growth of both body and mind.Under the background of today’s digital age, children are inevitably influenced by electronic media equipment. Many previous studies have shown that children’s media exposure behavior has an impact on their sleep quality, and family media ecology is an important environment affecting children’s media exposure, which will influence children’s media exposure behavior. This study takes this as the starting point to explore the relationship among family media ecology, children’s media exposure behavior and children’s sleep quality. In this study, children aged 3-6 years old from five private kindergartens in Hebei and Henan provinces were selected as research objects.Questionnaire survey was used to investigate and analyze the family media ecology, children’s media exposure and the status of children’s sleep quality, and the relationship among the three was discussed. The results and conclusions are as follows:1.Parents’ media exposure frequency has significant difference in its educational level variable. The more educated the parents, the higher the frequency of media exposure.2.Children’s media exposure time has significant differences in three demographic variables: age, family type and parents’ education level. The older the child, the longer the average daily media exposure time.Medium exposure time of young children in backbone families was significantly higher than that in nuclear families and other family types. The lower the parents’ education level, the longer the children’s media exposure time. There are significant differences in the frequency of children’s media exposure in age and family type. The older the child, the higher the average daily media exposure frequency. The frequency of children’s media exposure in the trunk family was significantly higher than that in the nuclear family.3.There is a significant difference between children’s sex in the dimension of heteromorphic sleep quality.Compared with male children, female children are more likely to have abnormal sleep problems during sleep. There are significant differences in age variables among the three sub-dimensions of children’s sleep quality, namely night wake dimension, sleep latency period and bedtime habit. The older children are,the less problems they have with wakefulness, latency, and bedtime habits during sleep.4.Family media ecology can positively predict children’s media exposure.Specifically, both parents’ media exposure duration and parents’ media exposure frequency can positively predict children’s age of initial media exposure. Both parents’ media exposure duration and parents’ media exposure frequency can positively predict children’s media exposure duration.Family media quantity, parents’ media exposure duration and parents’ media exposure frequency can positively predict children’s media exposure frequency.5.Children’s media exposure can negatively predict children’s sleep quality.Specifically, children’s media exposure duration can negatively predict children’s overall sleep quality and the dimensions of anomic sleep and bedtime habits in sleep quality. The frequency of children’s media exposure can negatively predict the sleep dimension of children’s sleep quality.6.In the family media ecology, the amount of family media, the length of parents’ media exposure and the frequency of parents’ media exposure had no predictive effect on children’s sleep quality.Based on the above conclusions, this study puts forward the following suggestions for the family rearing of parents of young children: Parents should treat electronic media dialectically and establish a positive concept of media education;attach importance to media literacy education, standardize and guide children’s media exposure behavior;examine their own media contact behavior in time to set a good example for children;limit children’s media contact behavior before sleep to shape good sleeping habits. |
