| The curriculum of Chinese should focus on the comprehensive use of the language and its characters.The teaching of writing in junior high school is an important part in building student’s linguistic competence.Effective writing teaching also helps to facilitate the improvement of other linguistic skills including listening,speaking and reading,which indicates the unquestionable importance of writing teaching.However,the "one-size-fits-all" teaching method has been adopted in a increasingly wider range in class teaching,which is featured by the inefficiency and cruelty of compulsory teaching described by Washburn.Therefore,it is imperative to find solutions to the current issues faced by writing teaching.In this thesis,the author adopts asynchronous teaching to junior high Chinese writing teaching,and makes customized plans based on different levels of writing capability of students.This is an attempt to address the ill-matched education of the the current teaching mode in which teachers lack concrete plans and only gives rigid one-way information sending.Based on the status quo of current Chinese writing teaching,using asynchronous teaching as a leverage,the author writes the thesis supported by results collected from questionnaires and interviews.The first chapter starts with a survey through questionnaires and interviews to investigate on the status quo of junior high Chinese writing teaching in the city of Nantong where the author’s internship is located.The results show that junior high Chinese writing teaching now has major issues which need addressing:Students need to improve writing attitude,strengthen subject consciousness,and adopt more appropriate learning methods,while teachers need to update teaching approaches.Through analysis,the author finds out that the fundamental causes of the issues above are oversimplified goals of writing teaching,and insufficient,inflexible instructions on writing for students.Based on the findings,the author believes the issues can be addressed with precise grouping and offering customized teaching,which is the methodology of asynchronous teaching.The second chapter is a study on the feasibility of applying asynchronous teaching to junior high Chinese writing.The author first gives an overview of asynchronous teaching,and then gives an systematic discussion on the theoretical basis of asynchronous teaching,including theory of "multiple intelligences",theory of "mastery learning",and the theory of "zone of proximal development".At last,the author discusses the reality basis of applying asynchronous teaching to junior high Chinese writing.In the third chapter,the author designs a strategy which aims to facilitate the use of asynchronous teaching in junior high Chinese writing,in order to optimize the effectiveness of asynchronous teaching.The fourth chapter contains two examples of teaching design following asynchronous teaching and gives reflections after teaching.Applying asynchronous teaching is a mixture of the ancient Chinese wisdom of"teaching according to one’s ability" and modern education theories.This thesis attempts to apply asynchronous teaching to junior high Chinese writing teaching in hope of mobilizing students’ passion,stimulating students’ inner drive to write,fostering personalized writing styles in students,and provide useful reference for future writing teaching. |
