| Scientific spirit is not only one of the core qualities of Chinese students,but also an important part of Chinese citizens’ scientific quality.Improving teenagers’ scientific spirit is of great practical significance to the sustainable development of our society.According to the literature search,the current research on the cultivation of scientific spirit is concentrated in higher education,and only a few are carried out in the field of basic education.So in the stage of basic education,what is the cultivation of scientific spirit? This study compiles questionnaires and interview outlines according to the characteristics of biology and the actual teaching situation,analyzes the development status of students’ scientific spirit and teachers’ infiltration of the scientific spirit in the teaching process,finds out the advantages and disadvantages of cultivating scientific spirit in biology,and puts forward operable cultivation countermeasures and teaching suggestions from the practical point of view.Taking the students of Ganzhou City as an example,the results of the student surveys showed that the overall average score of high school students’ scientific spirit is 3.51(full value of 5points),only 58% of students have a strong scientific spirit,and only the spirit of questioning and exploration has reached a "high" level in all dimensions,that is,most high school students have basic independent thinking and analysis skills and can show a high level of questioning and exploration desire,but they lack the critical ability and innovative consciousness,and their cognition of seeking truth and respecting reality is relatively vague.Generally speaking,the scientific spirit level of senior high school students showed a certain counter-growth trend,that is,the thirst for knowledge,the enthusiasm for asking questions,and the spirit of inquiry are weakened due to the increasing pressure of schoolwork,which also shows that the education and teaching methods before the reform of the new college entrance examination can not promote the development of students’ spirit of truth-seeking,exploration and innovation.In addition,the overall scientific spirit level of students in the central city is higher than that of students in counties and cities,and there is a big gap between urban and rural areas,that is,the development of students’ scientific spirit is affected by social education,family education,and school education environment.The results of the teacher survey showed that most biology teachers could describe the students’ scientific spirit accurately,dared to accept and face students’ criticism and doubts,actively communicated with peers and updated their educational concepts,and had a certain scientific spirit of critical questioning and daring to explore.However,nearly 30% of biology teachers didn’t know enough about the "scientific spirit" and weren’t clear about the concept,and even mistook "scientific thinking" and "scientific inquiry" for "scientific spirit".Some teachers have never carried out experiments,lack empirical awareness and spirit of exploration;A small number of teachers have insufficient motivation to improve teaching methods and methods,have weak enterprising spirit and innovation awareness,completely copy the existing teaching design,and lack in-depth thinking and understanding of teaching content.In terms of teaching,the classroom teaching methods of most biology teachers are still influenced by traditional educational ideas,focusing on the teaching of scientific knowledge and scientific theories,and ignoring the education and cultivation of students’ innovative ability,innovative thinking and scientific spirit.The lack of social science and cultural atmosphere and the neglect of the cultivation of scientific spirit by schools and teachers are the main factors leading to the lack of scientific spirit in senior high school students.Schools are the main positions of science education,and teachers are the executors of science education.Only by improving teachers’ scientific quality,strengthening the construction of talents’ practical skills training system,strengthening experimental inquiry,promoting the construction of campus science and technology culture,clarifying the cultivation goal of the scientific spirit,and exploring a new teaching mode permeating scientific spirit can the cultivation of scientific spirit be fully guaranteed.The innovation of this study is that the scientific spirit is subdivided into different dimensions,such as seeking truth,respecting reality,criticizing,and questioning,helping teachers understand students’ value orientation,thinking mode,and behavior in real life,facilitating teachers to make up for students’ deficiencies in a targeted manner,and providing a reference for teachers to infiltrate the scientific spirit in teaching practice,and thus implement the action of improving the teenagers’ scientific quality,which not only makes efforts to improve citizens’ scientific quality in Jiangxi Province but also provides innovation and development directions for follow-up research. |
