College students in the new era are fortunate to be prosperous,which is not only a happy generation,but also a generation with heavy responsibilities and arduous tasks."Cultivating self-esteem,self-confidence,rationality,peace,and positive social mentality" is not only related to college students’ ideological concepts,social consensus,value orientation,behavior choices and positive social emotions,but also has great significance for social stability and the rapid development of the country in the future.Social mindset,self-esteem,and self-confidence are important indicators of a person’s mental health.The research literature concludes that physical exercise pathways have a positive contribution to improving the physical and mental health of college students.In view of the differences in physical activity activities between these two different groups,this study draws on the existing research results,and uses questionnaire survey method,mathematical statistics method and comparative analysis method to investigate and study social mentality,self-esteem and self-confidence among 1160 college students majoring in physical education and non-physical education majoring in Inner Mongolia universities.Through a comparative study of social mentality and self-esteem and self-confidence in these two groups of college students.To explore the impact of physical activity on college students’ social mentality,self-esteem and self-confidence.In the future,Inner Mongolian colleges and universities attach importance to college students’ active participation in sports activities and promote the improvement of college students’ mental health.The results of the study concluded:(1)The overall social mentality,self-esteem and self-confidence of sports majors and non-sports college students in Inner Mongolia colleges and universities are at a good level,but the overall level of sports majors is higher than that of non-sports college students.(2)The average overall social mentality and self-confidence of female college students majoring in physical education and non-sports majoring in colleges and universities in Inner Mongolia was higher than that of male college students;The mean self-esteem of male college students was higher than that of female college students,but there was no significant difference in the above statistical results(P>0.05);the mean social mentality and self-esteem of male college students majoring in physical education were higher than that of male college students majoring in arts and sciences,and there were significant differences(P<0.05);the average social mentality of female college students majoring in liberal arts was higher than that of female college students majoring in physical education and science.There were significant differences(P<0.05),and the mean self-esteem of female college students majoring in physical education was higher than that of female college students majoring in arts and sciences,and the mean self-confidence of female college students majoring in science was higher than that of female college students majoring in physical education and liberal arts,but there was no significant difference(P>0.05).(3)Inner Mongolian colleges and universities majoring in physical education and non-physical education majors are better than sophomores,juniors and first-year students in the overall level of social mentality.There were extremely significant differences(P<0.01),and there were significant differences(P<0.05)in the level of self-confidence of sophomores and juniors;the mean social mentality of sophomores majoring in physical education was higher than that of sophomores majoring in arts and sciences,and there were significant differences(P<0.05);the mean social mentality and self-esteem of juniors majoring in physical education were higher than those of juniors majoring in arts and sciences,and there were significant differences(P<0.05).(4)There were significant differences between the socio-emotional dimension of physical education students in Inner Mongolia universities and the survival of liberal arts universities(P<0.05),and the dimensions of self-esteem and social emotions,social values and social behavior intentions of science students(P<0.01),while the social values and social behavior intentions of liberal arts students and the survival of science universities were extremely significant differences(P<0.01).(5)Multiple comparative analysis of the social mentality,self-esteem and self-confidence of college students majoring in physical education and non-physical education shows that there are differences between the social mentality,self-esteem and self-confidence of college students majoring in physical education and non-physical education.(6)The correlation statistical results show that the dimensions of social cognition,social emotion,social values,and social behavior intention of physical education majors and non-sports majors have a significant positive correlation with self-esteem and self-confidence(P<0.01),which can indicate that the four dimensions of social cognition,social emotion,social values and social behavior intention of social mentality have mutual predictability on the self-esteem and self-confidence of sports majors and non-sports college students.The above results show that regular participation in physical exercise has a promoting effect on cultivating college students’ good social mentality,self-esteem and self-confidence,and schools should encourage college students to actively participate in physical exercise,improve the physical and mental health level of college students with physical exercise path,and contribute to the rapid development of society in the new era in the future.
