| In reading strategy instruction,students’ use of reading strategies can effectively improve their reading skills.The MOE language textbook has four reading strategy units in the first semester of each school year for grades 3-6,and four reading strategies have been selected to promote students’ reading comprehension with the aim of improving their reading literacy.These four reading strategy approaches-questioning strategy,prediction strategy,increasing reading speed strategy,and purposeful reading strategy-are designed to help students move from being passive to active readers in their reading activities.As the last two reading strategy units,the "Reading Speed Unit" and the "Purposeful Reading Unit" are the summaries and enhancements of the previous reading strategy units,and they have received a lot of attention from experts and front-line teachers.However,since the introduction of the reading strategy units,front-line teachers still have some problems in teaching them for various reasons.In the classroom observation,the researcher observed the four dimensions of presentation,linkage,instruction,and achievement,and in the interview,the researcher mainly interviewed the teachers’ cognitive and pedagogical dimensions,and investigated The teachers’ problems in teaching the unit were analyzed and corresponding suggestions for optimization were made in order to provide reference for front-line teachers’ teaching.Through in-depth analysis of the survey results,it was found that the problems in teaching the reading strategy unit in upper elementary school were: teachers’ lack of in-depth knowledge of the reading strategy unit,teachers’ deviation from the unit’s teaching objectives,teachers’ failure to build connections within the reading strategy unit,and students’ inability to transfer and use reading strategies.The reasons for these problems include: teachers’ lack of clarity about the purpose of the reading strategy units,teachers’ lack of ability to implement the objectives of the reading strategy units,teachers’ professional competence in teaching the reading strategy units,and teachers’ neglect of students’ ability to transfer.The teachers neglected the cultivation of students’ ability to transfer and use.In view of the problems in the current situation of "reading strategy unit" teaching in upper elementary school,we propose corresponding countermeasures for improvement:constructing a teaching and research mechanism for unit teaching,precisely achieving the teaching objectives of the unit,constructing a curriculum resource base for reading strategy unit,and improving the system of reading practice activities. |
