| As one of the main forms of home-school cooperation, the role of parent committee is gradually being explored and revealed under the background of the development and reform of education in China. In recent years, the administrative departments from central to local governments have attached great importance to the construction of family committees. With the development of family education and home-school cooperation, the construction of parent committees has been continuously improved. However, previous research mostly concerns the "school-grade-class" level parent committees and focus on the school-level.The class-level parent committees has been ignored.Additionally, due to the differences in social conditions and education levels in different regions, the construction of parent committees in primary school varies.Especially in areas where the level of education development is underdeveloped, the class-level parent committees at the primary school lack unified norms and guidance. Therefore,it’s necessary to understand the status of the parent committees in primary schools in X city, analyze the existing issues, and find corresponding countermeasures. These will benefit the construction of the parent committees, enhance home-school co-education function, and provide support for the construction of other parent committees. This research is carried out in four primary schools in X city by means of interview survey and questionnaire survey. The subjects of the interviews were eight teachers of these primary schools, and the subjects of the questionnaire survey were teachers and parents. In the end,a total of 32 valid teacher questionnaires and 229 valid parent questionnaires were recovered. The purpose of the questionnaire is to investigate and analyze the following aspects of the parent committees of the several primary schools in X city: 1.The organizational form of the parent committees of the primary school classes;2.Parents’ awareness of the basic elements of the parent committ ees of the primary school classes;3.Communication among parents, teachers and the parent committee;4.Parents and teachers’ understanding, evaluation and expectation of current parent committee in the class. We analyzed the status of class parent committees in the four schools and the understanding differences about its system, between parent committee members and non-member parents, parents and teachers. And results were: 1.The organizational forms of parent committees in different schools and classes are different, lacking unified norms and guidance;2.the parent’s understanding of the basic elements of the class-level parent committee;3.There are obviusly differences in understanding, evaluation and expectation of the class parent committee between members of the parent committee and non-member parents, parents and teachers. The main reasons of these issues are as following: 1.The policy documents of the education administrative department lack normative requirements and specific operability for the class parent committee, and there is no effective communication channel in supervision and guidance;2.Management guidance and support for the class parents committee are insufficient;the understanding of class parent committee are not unified and the communication between teachers and parents need to be improved;3.Lack of effective external supervision and guidance and gradual mutual communication between parents and effective communication between teachers and parents;4.Committee members and non-member parents are not enthusiastic enough to participate in the construction of the class family committee, and their awareness of home-school cooperation needs to be enhanced. In conclusion, there is a long way to improve the construction of primary school committees in X city. The government needs to strengthen policy norms and management regulations;the government and schools need to pay more attention to the educational guidance;parents and teachers need to raise the awareness of home-school cooperation, increase communication, and take an active participate in the construction of the family committee. |
