| With the development of society, psychological problems of high school students have become a growing concern.High school students are under pressure to go on to higher education and other pressures from peers and families, and life events are common stressors. This study focuses on high school students, and investigates the influence of life events as an important stressor on their academic achievement and its mechanism of action. In this study,a questionnaire method was used to conduct a survey to 521 high school students, and the results obtained were analyzed and modeled, and the results were as follows.1.Demographic variable dimensions(1)Female students scored significantly higher on life events and significantly lower on positive psychological capital than male students.(2)There were significant grade level differences in students’ academic achievement.(3)Student leaders scored significantly higher on academic achievement, social support, and positive psychological capital than non-student leaders.2.Relationship among variables(1)Life events can significantly and negatively predict academic achievement level of high school students.(2)Positive psychological capital mediates the relationship between life events and academic achievement, life events can affect an individual’s level of positive psychological capital, which in turn affects his or her level of academic achievement.(3)The indirect effect of life events on academic achievement is moderated by social support, and the moderation occurs in the first half.Social support can buffer the effect of life events on positive psychological capital, but as the level of life events increases, the buffering effect of social support on life events will be weakened, which is consistent with the "drop in the bucket" model of the moderating effect, and is also consistent with the stress vulnerability hypothesis and the sensitization response theory.Based on the above findings, this study proposes the following recommendations for enhancing academic achievement and psychological capital of high school students.Strengthen psychological counseling for high school students and improve the level of positive psychological capital: guide students to form a positive mindset;construct a positive orientation psychological curriculum;cultivate students’ rich interests;relieve students’ anxiety about academic achievement;and infiltrate psychological health education in subject teaching.Increase social support and improve the utilization of support: improve the quality of family education and strengthen home-school cooperation;enhance students’ resource management skills and improve the utilization of social support. |
