In recent years, the frequent occurrence of malignant incidents in middle school have seriously damaged the mental health of junior high school students.,such as peer conflict and campus exclusion, which has attracted wide attention in the education circle. Therefore, lots of middle schools took a series of measures to protect the mental health of junior high school students, such as increasing the number of psychological teachers. The occurrence of internal and external problems in junior high school students partly owe to interpersonal communication. When junior high students enter adolescence, they begin to pay more attention to peer communication. To adapt to the interpersonal environment,They tend to participate in peer interactions and obtain relevant feedback. In this process, they will form their own cognition and a set of fixed pattern to identify and respond quickly in future. In this process,if it is difficult to form a good peer relationship or adaptability, they will generate negative emotions and bad basis for their development. Therefore, after the analysis of the risk factors of interpersonal adaptation difficulties, the variable of rejection sensitivity was introduced into the study.Generally speaking,Individuals who grew up in unsafe family environments or frequently suffered rejection may develop a susceptibility to rejection, which mean an anxious expectation of refusal and a tendency to easily perceive and overreact.Junior high school students with high rejection sensitivity have a high degree of negative cognition of rejection information and they are prone to irritation and show an overreaction to rejection than other junior high school students.Because they may easily develop negative emotions, bad behavior, and interpersonal adaptation difficulties when face with vague or neutral information. Therefore,it is more important to study the relationship between rejection sensitivity and interpersonal adaptation of junior high school students in the collectivist culture that highly emphasizes social connection and relationship harmony.Based on the rejection sensitivity model and the cognitive-affective personality system theory, this study introduced forgiveness from the prosocial perspective and construct a mediation mechanism.Based on the cognitive theory and function theory of emotion, emotion expression was introduced as a moderating variable into the research mechanism to explore whether it could affect the relationship between rejection sensitivity and interpersonal adaptation by influencing their level of forgiveness. That is,whether the four variables could form a moderating mediation effect. This study selected two middle school students in Hebei Province by convenient sampling method.A total of 1100 questionnaires were distributed through offline paper distribution. After sorting out and deleting the missing parts,967 valid questionnaires were left behind finally, which accounted for 87.9%.SPSS24.0 was used for data processing. The results are as follows:(1)Rejection sensitivity is significantly different in gender and origin.Forgiveness is significantly different in grade.Neither interpersonal adaptation nor emotional expression is demographically significantly different.(2)Rejection sensitivity can significantly negatively predict interpersonal adaptation.(3)Forgiveness plays a mediating role in the relationship between rejection sensitivity and interpersonal adaptation.(4)Emotional expression plays a moderating role in the relationship between rejection sensitivity and forgiveness.Specifically,in the case of high emotional expression, the effect of rejection sensitivity on forgiveness is weakened.(5)Emotional expression plays a moderating role in the relationship between forgiveness and interpersonal adaptation.Specifically,in the case of high emotional expression, the influence of forgiveness on interpersonal adaptation is weakened.(6)Rejection sensitivity, forgiveness, interpersonal adaptation, and emotional expression form a moderated mediating effect. In conclusion, this study concludes that rejection sensitivity can negatively predict interpersonal adaptation in junior high school students.Forgiveness plays a mediating role in the relationship between rejection sensitivity and interpersonal adaptation and emotional expression moderates the first and second half paths of the mediated process. These four variables form a moderated mediating effect.Based on this, this study suggests that parents, schools and teachers care for junior high school students, especially junior high school students with high rejection sensitivity, for example, parents and teachers can encourage students to express their emotions appropriately. This can enhance interpersonal adaptation.
