Chinese youth in the new era should cultivate their moral character.No man can stand without virtue,morality is the foundation of man.To stop at the best is the constant pursuit of the Chinese nation.The character development of college students is an important entry point of socialist moral construction,which plays an important role in the development of college students themselves,the development of ideological and political education in colleges and universities and the construction of good social climate.In recent years,the Party and the state also attach great importance to the ideological and political education in colleges and universities,but the problem of neglected evaluation of the effect of ideological and political education in colleges and universities still exists,and an important reason lies in the lack of practical evaluation methods for the effect of ideological and political education.How to build an effective ideological and political education effect evaluation method to achieve the purpose of scientific,objective and comprehensive evaluation of college students’ character is a problem that needs to be focused on in the research of ideological and political education.Character structure has been an important issue in theoretical research on ideological and political education.In the past,the research on character structure mainly stayed in the field of theoretical analysis.The most representative one is the three-dimensional structure of character proposed by Professor Ban Hua of Nanjing Normal University(i.e."the old three-dimensional structure of character"),which includes three dimensions of the mental form dimension,content dimension and ability dimension of character.According to him,the mental form dimension of moral character includes what is usually called knowledge,emotion,intention and action.The mental content dimension of ideological character includes ideological awareness,political consciousness and ethics.The mental ability dimension of ideological character includes the ability to recognize ideological character,the ability to practice ideological character,and the ability to educate oneself,etc.The three dimensions are interrelated,mutually constrained,and inseparable.Based on the old three-dimensional structure theory of character,this study proposes a new three-dimensional structure theory of character(hereafter referred to as the "three-dimensional structure theory of character" unless otherwise specified).Compared with the former,the latter is different in that it replaces the ability dimension with the hierarchical dimension and focuses on the subject’s life situation and social relationships,thus realizing the transformation of the study of moral structure from psychology to sociology.Specifically,the three-dimensional structure of morality theory proposes a theoretically complete and logical framework for explaining moral structure,including the hierarchical dimension(divided into three dimensions of self-others-society),the formal dimension(divided into three dimensions of morality-politics-law)and the content dimension(divided into three dimensions of cognition-emotion-behavior),and the three dimensions are interrelated and mutually inclusive.On the other hand,the new three-dimensional structure of morality shows a clear practical relevance,which is concentrated on the assessment of moral structure for college students through the questionnaire method and the attempt to propose the prototype of three-dimensional inter-constructive ideological and political education on this basis,so as to establish an operable theory of moral structure for college students.Through this theory,it helps front-line educators to obtain as accurate and comprehensive information about the character characteristics of college students as possible,so as to purposefully promote the realization of the integrity of the content,the unity of the form and the coordination of the levels of the character structure of college students,and finally establish a stable self-identity.In this study,firstly,the theoretical framework of the three-dimensional structure theory of character is constructed.On the one hand,the relevant theories of the three-dimensional structure of character theory are elaborated.On the other hand,the basic theories are shown,including Marx’s theory of free and comprehensive human development,Erikson’s theory of self-identity and Vygotsky’s theory of psychological development.Secondly,an empirical study was conducted around the current state of the character structure of college students.The analysis found that,on the one hand,on the whole,college students have a high level of character identity and show a high level of character.On the other hand,in terms of each dimension,political identity is the highest in the content dimension,followed by legal identity,and moral identity is the lowest,indicating that there is still a need to strengthen the integrity of content;emotional identity is the highest in the form dimension,followed by behavioral identity,and cognitive identity is the lowest,indicating that there is a need to improve the unity of form;the identity of others is the highest in the level dimension,followed by self identity,and social identity is the lowest,indicating that there is a need to strengthen the unity of form.This indicates that there is still a need to enhance the level of coordination.Finally,we explore effective ways to promote the character development of college students.Through theoretical and practical research on the theory of three-dimensional structure of character,the integrity of content,unity of form and coordination of level of character structure are taken as the basis for exploring the way of character development.The integrity of content of character is mainly promoted by value construction,the unity of form of character is explored by true self,and the coordination of level of character is promoted by individual identity.In order to effectively promote the perfection and development of college students’ morality.
