The current situation of heavy and inefficient homework is still squeezing students’ energy and interests after school, the "double reduction" policy is a correction of education, reminding the majority of educators to focus on the goal of cultivating students’ core literacy and pay attention to students’ personalized development.Xi Jinping, the general secretary, hosted a meeting on February 21,2023,when he stressed again that "we should do a good job of adding science education to the education’double reduction’".Homework as a "double reduction" policy to implement the small cut, through the "reduction" of students’ homework burden,to "increase" the quality of school education and teaching, improve the core literacy of students, through homework This is the hand to implement the fundamental educational task of establishing moral education. As the subject of using this hand, how to design quality homework and how homework reflects the value of nurturing people are topics worthy of consideration and continuous improvement.Based on this, the author conducts research on the optimal design of junior high school geography homework with the ultimate goal of cultivating students’ geography core literacy. After reviewing and organizing relevant literature and materials, this paper finds that the problems of geography assignments are similar in different schools, different regions, and even different subjects,so this paper focuses its research on the design of geography assignments.By reviewing and combing the relevant literature, the core concepts of core literacy, action research and homework design are defined, and on the basis of previous research, theories such as constructivist learning theory, multiple intelligence theory, nearest development area theory and system theory are used to provide a theoretical basis for the optimal design of geography homework, which is used as a guiding opinion to provide a certain scientific basis for the design of junior high school geography homework.Secondly, based on the curriculum standards, textbook contents, actual learning situation and core literacy requirements, this paper proposes four principles of geography homework design, such as operability, measurability, inspiration and life, which are applied to provide specific references and bases in the subsequent design of geography homework, make the design of geography homework more relevant and purposeful, promote students’ development, realize the cultivation of students’ core literacy in geography, and make geography The assignment is more effective and better reflects the nurturing value of geography assignments. After the preliminary work was fully prepared,a one-and-a-half-month action research was conducted to identify problems and make continuous improvements in the action research,so as to draw out methods to optimize the design of geography assignments,to "reduce the burden, increase the quality and improve the efficiency" of the assignments,to more effectively cultivate students’ core literacy and realize the nurturing value of teaching, and to provide practical and effective guidance methods for the design and layout of junior high school geography assignments. In the first round of action research,we found that the design of geography assignments was not only effective, but also the design and layout of geography assignments. After the first round of action research,we found a series of problems such as unreasonable time for assignments, the amount of assignments does not match the objectives of assignments, assignments are not interesting enough, and assignments are presented in a single way. After improvement and adjustment, the following methods were proposed for the optimal design of geography homework in junior high school after the second round of action research: the design of geography homework should be task-driven and activity-based;lively and interesting and context-based;and evaluation should be lively and focus on personalized development. After two rounds of action research students’ approval of geography homework increased by 4%.The insights I have gained in designing geography assignments are: geography assignments should be designed with a basis, assignment objectives should be clear, assignment activities should be contextualized, assignment feedback should be more comprehensive, and assignment evaluation should promote students’ development.
