Research Purpose: In recent years,China has advocated and practiced quality education and sought to promote the overall development of students.The importance attached to large classroom activities is also increasing,and the forms of large classroom activities in primary and secondary schools in China have gradually become rich and diverse.This study tries to integrate Latin dance elements into recess exercises,combining the physical and mental characteristics of secondary school students,based on the physical education and health curriculum standards,creating a set of Latin exercises,and applying them to the experiment to test their effect on promoting the physical and mental health development of secondary school students.And in this way to enrich the form of our school recess,the formation of a characteristic campus sports culture,for the development of the characteristics of recess gymnastics to provide reference.Research Methods: This study takes Boyang Middle School in Taishan District as an example,and adopts the literature method,expert interview method,questionnaire survey method,experimental method and mathematical statistics method,and summarises the current status of domestic and foreign research by reviewing relevant literature,and interviews experts on the content of the study,research methods and so on,summarising the experts’ opinions,and then carries out questionnaires and experiments to verify the effect of the Latin gymnastics on the promotion of the physical and mental health of secondary school students.The effect of Latin gymnastics on promoting the physical and mental health development of secondary school students.The experimental subjects were selected from96 students in the eighth grade of Boyang Middle School in Taishan District,randomly divided into experimental group and control group,in which the experimental group was intervened in the form of Latin exercises,and the control group was not intervened in a special way,to ensure that there is no significant difference between the two groups before the experiment,and to collate and analyse the data after the experiment and to draw conclusions.Findings: This set of exercises is based on Latin dance,combined with elements of aerobics and popular fitness exercises,creating a very characteristic large classroom Latin exercises.After the creation is completed,it is applied in the large classroom to conduct experiments to test the effect of promoting the physical and mental health of secondary school students.The following results were obtained through comparative analysis:Physical fitness: the experimental group students’ performance in seated forward bending,standing long jump,one-minute rope skipping and one-legged standing with eyes closed were significantly improved compared with that before the experiment(P<0.05),while the control group students’ performance in the one-minute rope skipping had a significant difference except that there was a significant difference in the other indexes,and the experimental group’s enhancement was more significant and efficient than that of the control group.The one-minute sit-up performance of students in the experimental group did not show significant changes compared to the preexperimental period,and there was no significant difference in the intergroup comparison with the control group(P>0.05).In terms of the pleasure of physical activity,the comparison of the results of the questionnaire survey found that the pleasure of the students in the experimental group after the experiment was significantly higher than before the experiment,and it was more significant than that of the control group(P<0.05).Interpersonal Relationships: the scores of the Interpersonal Relationships Diagnostic Scale before and after the experiment in the experimental and control groups showed that there was a significant increase in the four dimensions and the total score of interpersonal relationships(P<0.05)when comparing the experimental and control groups within the group after the experiment.The control group did not show any significant improvement in the four dimensions of interpersonal relationships and the total score when compared within the group(P>0.05).In the post-experimental comparison between the two groups,there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the scores of the total interpersonal relations and conversation dimensions of the boys.For female students,there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in the scores of all dimensions and the total interpersonal score,except for the conversation dimension,where the difference was not significant(P>0.05).The overall results showed that there was a significant difference(P<0.05)between the two groups in all interpersonal relationship dimensions and total interpersonal relationship scores.Teachers’ evaluation: The teachers of Boyang Middle School were highly satisfied with the Latin drill,and agreed that the difficulty of this set of Latin was appropriate,and the choice of music as well as movements was reasonable.Most of the teachers thought that the teaching effect of the Latin drill was better,which greatly motivated the students to participate in the classroom exercise.Moreover,the quality of students’ practice in Latin Drill is high,and they can finish it more seriously.In general,Latin gymnastics has won the teachers’ unanimous praise,and the vast majority of teachers are supportive of the implementation of Latin gymnastics in the large classroom activities.Research conclusions:1.This set of big classroom Latin drill according to the creation of the basis,principles,methods for creation,in line with the physical and mental development of secondary school students.It has been proved to be scientific and reasonable.2.Intervention in Latin gymnastics can improve the flexibility,lower limb strength,coordination and balance of junior high school students.3.The intervention of Latin Exercise can improve the pleasure of junior high school students to participate in sports activities,and it is more effective for junior high school girls.4.The intervention of Latin Exercise in the classroom can significantly improve the interpersonal relationship of junior high school students.5.School teachers’ satisfaction with this set of Latin Exercise is high,and it is feasible to use Latin Exercise as a recess exercise.
