Practical Research On Improving The Service Capacity Of Community Volunteers Through Social Work Interventio

In the process of gradual development of national governance capacity and system,volunteerism is playing an increasingly important role in community and grassroots social governance.As a result,community volunteering has been developed to a certain extent,and community volunteers,as providers of community volunteering services,have played a role in community governance and development through volunteering.However,some studies have shown that the lack of knowledge and skills of volunteers in the field of service has led to problems such as low efficiency of community volunteering,low satisfaction of service recipients,frustration and burnout of volunteers,low sense of achievement in service,and high mobility of volunteers.Therefore,how to improve the service capacity of community volunteers has become the main concern of this study,and community volunteers will be chosen as the research object of this study.First of all,this study investigates the current situation of community volunteers’ service participation and analyzes the problems of community volunteers in combination with interviews: poor concept of volunteering,lack of professional service knowledge and skills,and insufficient teamwork ability.The needs of the community volunteers were analysed as follows: learning the correct service concept and knowledge and skills,developing communication and visiting skills and enhancing teamwork skills.Based on this,the social worker intervened through group work and conducted six group activities for the 20 community volunteers recruited.The volunteers were helped to establish the correct concept of service,learn the knowledge of volunteering,develop the ability of communication and visiting,enhance the ability of teamwork and strengthen the knowledge learnt.The evaluation of the group process and results showed that the content of the group work had achieved certain results and the service capacity of the community volunteers had been improved but the results needed to be consolidated in practice.Finally,the author made reflections and suggestions on the study,summarizing the experiences and optimization methods in four aspects: the practical work should "bring the new with the old",the need to fully stimulate the volunteers’ autonomy,the need to explore the volunteers’ own strengths,and the need for multi-linkage to improve the service capacity of community volunteers.This study will help to summarize the practice of social workers’ intervention in community volunteer service and provide reference for social workers in improving the capacity of community volunteer service.This study was conducted through participant observation,unstructured interviews and questionnaires.By summarising the basic conditions of volunteer recruitment,membership,management and activities of social work stations,analysing the problems and needs of community volunteers in terms of service capacity,combining the theoretical and intellectual perspectives of social work,conducting social work practice of volunteer service capacity enhancement and exploring social work methods and paths suitable for community volunteer capacity enhancement in practice.
