Geography textbook is an important carrier for teachers ’ teaching and students ’ learning of geography knowledge,and its writing quality directly affects geography teaching.National geography in middle school geography textbooks is an important carrier to cultivate students ’ core literacy of geography,and the ’ United States ’ section is an important part of national geography.Therefore,a longitudinal study on the evolution of’ American ’ national geography content in junior high school geography textbooks is conducive to improving the quality of this part of the content.Studying the development and changes of the content of the " United States " section in junior high school geography textbooks from a geographical perspective is of profound significance for improving students ’ understanding of international relations and the importance of enhancing China ’s international competitiveness.It can cultivate students’ strong feelings and innovative consciousness.The topic has certain practical significance from the perspective of Sino-US relations.Through literature method,comparative method,content analysis method and historical research method,this paper analyzes the content of " America " in the geography textbooks of junior high school in 1926 and1934 published by Zhonghua Book Company and Commercial Press before the founding of the People ’s Republic of China and in1953,1959,1961,1984,1995,2001 and 2012 published by People ’s Education Press after the founding of the People ’s Republic of China.This study mainly consists of five parts.1.Analyze the changes of the content requirements of "America" in the geography curriculum standard / syllabus of junior middle school in different stages since the Republic of China period.2.Analyze the characteristics of "American" content selection,content organization and content presentation in junior middle school geography textbooks in different periods of the Republic of China.3.Summarize the evolution characteristics of geography textbooks ’America ’ since the Republic of China era.4.Through the analysis,the influencing factors affecting the changes of the geography textbook "America" are summarized.5.Put forward relevant suggestions from the compilation of junior high school geography textbooks and teachers’ teaching.At the end of this paper,the following two suggestions are put forward for the revision and teaching of the part of " America " in junior high school geography textbooks:1.strengthen the ideological education with the times;2.Pay attention to cultivate students’ patriotism in teaching.
