The reform of basic education in China has gone through three stages: "Double Foundation","Three-dimensional Objectives" and "Core Literacy".With the introduction of "core literacy",the teaching philosophy has shifted from "knowledge-based" to "literacy-based".The Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)proposes large units for teaching specific motor skills,emphasising that the design of the physical education and health curriculum should be holistic and systematic.Although physical education researchers have carried out theoretical discussions and practical explorations on large-unit teaching,front-line physical education teachers are still unclear about the practical way of large-unit teaching design,and are not clear enough about the purpose and practice of large-unit teaching implementation.Therefore,this study takes the teaching design of junior high school basketball large units as the research object,elaborates on the practical way of large unit teaching design,and systematically elaborates on the purpose,content and way of implementing large unit teaching,in order to provide reference for front-line physical education teachers.The action research method is commonly used to explore the introduction of new teaching concepts into the inherent teaching system.This study mainly focuses on the implementation steps of the action research method and uses other research methods in the process of action research.The literature method was used to collect information on the concept of cultivating core literacy in physical education and health,theories and methods of large unit teaching design,strategies and pathways of large unit teaching design in physical education and health curriculum,and the theoretical basis of large unit teaching design in physical education and health.The collected information is discussed centrally through brainstorming method,and a pilot programme for junior high school basketball large-unit teaching is developed based on literature exploration.The programme is then revised through expert consultation,and a practical progression and content design for junior high school basketball large-unit teaching is finally arrived at.The plan is implemented through action research,classroom observations are used to collect students’ performance,mathematical statistics are used to collate data and conduct descriptive statistics and reliability tests,and logic is used to summarise the key points and reflections of the implementers’ teaching practice,resulting in a revised plan that can be used as a reference for frontline teachers.The theoretical analysis and practical exploration of this study led to the following results.(1)A practical approach to junior high school basketball large unit teaching design,i.e.the operational process of "theoretical exploration-practical approach-content design",in which the leader organizes members to focus on the issues of junior high school basketball large unit teaching design and formulates The leader organises a discussion on the design of a large unit on basketball,and forms a practical pathway of "Core Literacy Development Goals-Big Concepts-Large Unit Themes and Objectives-Key Concepts-Learning Tasks-Assessment Activities",and Based on the content designed in the practice pathway,the lesson time planning and teaching content of the large unit are designed.(2)The revision plan for the design of the large unit of junior basketball includes the following seven aspects: firstly,revision of the lesson objectives based on the achievement of the students’ learning objectives;secondly,revision of the contextualised teaching design based on the students’ mastery of the content;thirdly,revision of the teaching content based on the concept of structuring;fourthly,revision of the teaching sessions based on the integrity of the large unit of lesson time;fifthly,revision of the teaching pace based on the feedback of the assessment activities;sixthly,revision of the teaching schedule based on the feedback of the large unit of lesson time.Sixthly,we revise the organisation of learning tasks based on the integrity of the implementation of large units of teaching content;seventhly,we revise the practical approach to the design of large units of teaching based on the reflection of the implementation results.The following conclusions were drawn from the theoretical exploration,action implementation and data analysis of this study.(1)The basis for the design of junior high school basketball large-unit teaching,i.e.the design of large-unit teaching should be based on the concepts of large-unit teaching design of other subjects,the basis of large-unit teaching design of physical education and health,the basic components of large-unit teaching design,the teaching philosophy of the curriculum standards and the objective learning situation.(2)The principles of junior high school basketball large unit teaching design,teaching design should follow the principles of completeness,systematicity and consistency of teaching assessment,and in the specific lesson design should also follow the principles of the spiral progression of attack and defence in basketball sports.(3)The path of the large unit teaching design for junior high school basketball,firstly,the PE group leader or teachers who understand the concept of curriculum standards will act as the research leader,collect a wide range of information,discuss the large unit teaching design for a sport item,and come up with teaching content that is both theoretically supported and practically based,secondly,the designed large unit teaching content will be implemented,attention will be paid to collecting students’ classroom performance in the implementation,and timely Finally,the implementer will revise the design of the module based on the students’ learning and their own post-lesson reflections. |
