The "Activity and Exploration" unit,as an innovative unit in the Chinese language textbook of unified middle school,has many highlights in content writing and organizational form.It sets up four theme units of news,speeches,poetry,and drama in the genre types of learning,and each unit is formed by combining three major learning tasks of text reading,practical exploration,and writing expression.This integrates reading,practice,and writing teaching,forming a dynamic learning system that integrates the elements of Chinese listening,speaking,reading,and writing.It demonstrates unique advantages and values in improving students’ comprehensive language abilities and implementing core literacy in Chinese.However,in the current actual classroom teaching,the new arrangement system and activity task-based learning methods do not match the existing classroom teaching methods in middle schools,and the teaching effect of the "Activity and Exploration" unit is not satisfactory.To change the current teaching situation and give full play to the value of the "Activity and Exploration" unit,the author attempts to explore the feasibility of applying project-based Learning to the "Activity and Exploration" unit.The main content of the thesis is divided into four chapters.Chapter one defines and explains the concept and value of the "Activity and Exploration" unit in the junior high school Chinese language textbook by analyzing the unit structure and specific content.Chapter two uses a questionnaire survey to understand the current teaching status of the "Activity and Exploration" unit.Based on the survey data,the study identified teaching problems and conducted a root cause analysis,summarizing the following influencing factors:the profound impact of traditional exam-oriented education has brought about many drawbacks;teachers lack knowledge and ability,including innovative teaching skills;students lack high-order thinking and abilities,and exhibit cognitive inertia;teaching processes lack cohesiveness and ignore the overall picture;evaluation methods are single and superficial;and learning resources are insufficient.Chapter three explains the design basis of project-based learning for the unit from the theoretical foundation and common features and constructs a general teaching process for project-based learning in the unit.Chapter four uses the case analysis method to analyze the project-based teaching classes of the unit’s news,speeches,poetry,and drama themes conducted by renowned Chinese language teachers,analyzes the teaching design process,discovers the benefits and shortcomings.The final part of thesis proposes the following suggestions for implementing project-based teaching in the "Activity and Exploration" unit : integrate learning resources to build a complete unit teaching;guide with core knowledge objectives and thinking ability objectives;reasonably design teaching and grasp teaching principles;refine the learning process by evaluating learning;try project expansion and build a unit project curriculum system.
