Group Work Intervention In Autistic Children’s Family Dilemma

In recent years,the number of autistic children in China has been increasing.Children diagnosed with autism is a major stress event for families.The family is the basic unit of society and the shelter for autistic children.The treatment and rehabilitation of autism is a long and tortuous process.The huge medical rehabilitation costs,daily mental pressure,social discrimination and stigmatization of autism have brought great pressure to the families of autistic children.However,at present,the community pays little attention to the families of autistic children.The economic and spiritual pressure that autistic children suffer from has led to the weakening of family functions and is in a dilemma.The family of autistic children needs not only medical resources,but also the intervention of social work and the attention and support of all sectors of society.This article uses observation and interview methods to understand the plight of autistic children’s families through field visits to S Rehabilitation Center and interviews with 10 parents and 3 staff members of the center.After the interview,we learned that the families of autistic children have financial difficulties,the impact of family structure,lack of professional knowledge,and social discrimination and stigmatization,and the reasons were analyzed respectively.The author selected 8 parents from 10 parents to form a group,and intervened with families of autistic children through 6 group activities,and to try to meet their needs,solve their problems.The author closes the case after consolidating the achievements,and conduct process evaluation and result evaluation after the case is closed.At last,we draw a conclusion and reflect on it,and propose countermeasures and suggestions for social work intervention in families of autistic children.
