In order to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourse on education,comprehensively implement the Party’s education policy and accelerate the construction of an education system for the comprehensive cultivation of moral,intellectual,physical,aesthetic and labour competency,the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China issued a circular about Guideline for Labour Education in Primary and Secondary Schools(for Trial Implementation)in July 2020,requiring that the criteria,procedures and methods for evaluating students’ labour literacy must be improved and perfected,encouraging and supporting the use of modern information technology tools such as big data and the Internet of Things to carry out labour education process monitoring and documented evaluation,and bringing into play the nurturing guidance and feedback improvement functions of evaluation.Therefore,the development of evaluation indicators for students’ labour competency at different levels is an urgent issue to be addressed;this study aims to develop an effective evaluation system for students’ labour competency in junior middle school,so as to lay the foundation for the achievement of labour education goals.This study is firstly based on the analysis of domestic and foreign theories and practical studies on labour education evaluation through the literature research method.According to the objectives and contents of labour education for junior middle school students in the Guideline for Labour Education in Primary and Secondary Schools(for trial implementation),a preliminary design of the labour competency evaluation index system for junior middle school students was made.Secondly,an expert questionnaire was prepared according to the labour competenc evaluation index system for junior middle school students,experts were asked to select and give their opinions on the designed evaluation index system,feedback information was collected and analysed,and the labour middle evaluation index system for junior middle school students was established.Furthermore,through the weighting expert opinion survey,the relative weights of the evaluation indicators were determined to form a complete evaluation indicator system of labour literacy of junior high school students.Finally,the designed labour competency evaluation index system was evaluated with a labour competency questionnaire for junior middle school students to test its validity and reliability.The results showed that the labour competency questionnaire developed based on the evaluation index system of this study has good content,structural validity and internal consistency reliability,and the results of the survey are consistent with the existing empirical studies,which means that the established evaluation index system can be determined to be scientific and reasonable.The questionnaire survey found that the overall labour competency level of junior middle school students in Fujian Province is poor,especially in labour skills.
