Research On Social Work Intervention Of Emotional Neglect Of First-born Child

In recent years,China’s fertility rate has gradually decreased,and the population problem has become increasingly severe.In order to reverse the current decline in fertility,the government has made adjustments to the fertility policy.Many families have chosen to have a second or third child with the relaxation of the birth policy,which has led to a large number of only child families becoming multi child families,and the original only child has also become the eldest child in the family.They have encountered a series of problems in this family change,and this group has gradually attracted attention from all walks of life.However,most experts and scholars are concerned about the problems in the acceptance of First-born child’s siblings.In practice,the author has found that First-born child also face the problem of emotional neglect,which has seriously affected the healthy growth of First-born child’s and the normal life of their families.Therefore,we hope to help First-born child change their emotional neglect through professional intervention in social work,and shape a more harmonious parent-child relationship and a warm family atmosphere for them.This article takes J Community in Wuhan City as an example,using observation,interview,and questionnaire methods to investigate the current situation of emotional neglect among children with First-born child from families with multiple births in the community.The specific manifestations are: limited and low frequency of parent-child interaction,changes in parents’ concerns,distant parent-child relationships,and less emotional expression in parent-child communication.Based on the actual situation,the influencing factors of emotional neglect among children with First-born child are analyzed,including poor interaction methods within the family,Lack of educational experience from parents and imbalanced roles of family members.Through the analysis of the current situation and influencing factors,the needs for changing the emotional neglect problem of children with First-born child were summarized.A parent-child parallel group was established to help parents transform their cognition,improve skills,improve communication between parents and children,and promote harmonious parent-child relationships.Relevant evaluations were conducted to understand the improvement situation of the problem.Provide case services to team members who have not achieved significant results,develop targeted service plans,and intervene.This study adopts a combination of group work and case work methods,with the aim of helping First-born child solve the problem of emotional neglect faced by children.Relevant evaluations have been conducted,proving that social work methods are effective in solving such problems.Finally,a summary of this practical research was provided and the shortcomings of this practical research were discussed.Group work and case work often serve as a palliative for such problems.To address the root cause,it is necessary to collaborate with multiple schools,communities,social organizations,and relevant government departments in order to comprehensively solve such problems..
