Taking the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration as an example, this paper conducts exploration and research from three aspects: the evolution characteristics of population spatial pattern, the influencing factors of population spatial pattern from the perspective of spatial equilibrium, and the mechanism of population spatial distribution.First of all, this article analyzes the Population distribution characteristics of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration based on Prefecture-level city level and county level data to understand the population distribution of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration;then, this article uses the population distribution spatial equilibrium model Analyze the influencing factors of the evolution of the population spatial pattern of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan from two dimensions between different cities and within a single city, and empirically test the influence of various factors on the evolution of the population spatial pattern of the urban agglomeration of Changsha,Zhuzhou and Xiangtan through the construction of a panel data measurement model. The following findings are obtained in this paper:(1)The urbanization level of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration has only reached the national average, and the attractiveness of the region to the population is limited, and the level of urbanization needs to be further improved.(2)The Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration has relatively low population mobility and agglomeration, and the mismatch between population and industry and public resource supply is prominent. It is also found that the per capita ecological footprint of areas with high population concentration is lower.(3)This article finds that there is a spatial equilibrium between residents’ income, housing prices and infrastructure levels in different cities, and the relationship between urban housing prices and commuting costs is worthy of further discussion. In addition, income, housing prices, public resource allocation, investment in public utilities, business development, and investment in fixed assets will significantly affect the degree of population agglomeration in cities.(4)Promoting the coordination of population distribution with industry distribution, and promote population distribution match with the supply of public resources, which is conducive to increasing the spatial agglomeration of the population. The Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration should combine its location advantages, develop advantageous industries, increase the efficiency of public resource supply.Promoting the development of the level of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomerations urbanization.
