The spatial distribution of population refers to the spatial distribution of population in a certain period of time.It is an important part of the population research process and is mainly affected by factors such as the local natural conditions, economic level, social environment, and policy systems.Xinjiang has a vast territory, complex geographical conditions, and diverse ethnic groups, making its population distribution very distinctive. In 2010,the total resident population of Xinjiang was21.8158 million, and by the end of 2017 it reached 24.447 million. The rapid growth of Xinjiang’s population makes it important to study the spatial distribution characteristics and influencing factors of Xinjiang’s population.Due to the long distance between cities in Xinjiang, the spatial density of population density calculated by administrative area is weak,so few panel data are used in the literature to analyze the population of Xinjiang. This paper uses panel data of spatial distribution of population in Xinjiang to construct a two-way fixed-effect panel data model with both individual effects and time effects. The research results not only help explain the characteristics of population distribution under large-scale spatial conditions, but also serve as a development area.Provide an important basis for economic level and optimizing the spatial distribution of population. This article first analyzes the current situation of population distribution in Xinjiang’s cities from the overall structural characteristics of Xinjiang’s population, population location entropy index, population density calculated by inverse distance spatial interpolation, and population concentration index;secondly, from the relative migration index of population, migration of population center of gravity, and population Ellipse distribution map and the spatial correlation of the population of each county are used to analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of Xinjiang’s population;finally, the panel data of the spatial distribution of population in 14 prefectures in Xinjiang from 2010 to 2017 are selected, and the two-way fixed effect panel data model is used to filter out The main variables influencing the spatial distribution of the population, make a reasonable analysis and give policy recommendations based on the model estimation results. The spatial distribution characteristics of Xinjiang’s population are as follows:(1)The total population of Xinjiang’s 14 prefectures and cities has entered an aging stage, and the internal situation of each state varies greatly;the educational structure of Xinjiang’s population is lower than the national average, and the capital Urumqi will attract in the future Many highly-educated talents gather;the gender ratio of Xinjiang’s population is relatively balanced;the population of each ethnic group in Xinjiang has a unique spatial distribution,of which the Uyghur population is relatively concentrated, mainly distributed in the three prefectures of southern Xinjiang, and the Kazakhs are highly concentrated in Xinjiang In the north, the Han and Hui populations are not spatially clustered, but the characteristics of living together with other ethnic groups are obvious.(2)The population density distribution in Xinjiang is extremely uneven. At present, the population density in northern Xinjiang is still high, and the population in southern Xinjiang is sparse. However, judging from the trend of population density, the natural population growth rate and the relative migration index, the population of North Xinjiang has a tendency to divert outward, while the population of South Xinjiang shows a relatively obvious agglomeration trend, and the population of South Xinjiang The sudden increase is largely caused by the migration of immigrants. The migration trajectory map of population center of gravity and the ellipse distribution map of population standard deviation also verify that the Xinjiang population has shown a clear southward migration trend. The empirical test results are as follows:Economic level, industrial structure, house prices and urbanization rate are the key variables that affect the spatial distribution of Xinjiang’s population.Among them, the economic level has a significant positive impact on the spatial distribution of Xinjiang’s population, indicating that the higher the economic level, the more attractive the population is,and the lower the economic level, the more sparse the population, the level of economic development is still affecting the population The key factor of spatial distribution;and the industrial structure has a negative impact on the spatial distribution of Xinjiang’s population.Combining the distribution of natural resources and geographical conditions in Xinjiang,it can be found that the areas witha high proportion of secondary industry output are mostly in remote suburbs, which is not suitable for long-term population.Living,so its population is relatively small;at the same time, housing prices and urbanization rate also have a negative impact on the spatial distribution of Xinjiang’s population. In areas with low housing prices and low urbanization rates, the population is larger because of housing prices and urbanization The rate is mainly affected by the urban population. The four prefectures in southern Xinjiang have a larger total resident population, but the urban population or the central urban population is relatively small, the urbanization rate is low,and there is no high housing demand,so the house prices are not It will be too high. Therefore,on the basis of fully understanding the spatial distribution characteristics of Xinjiang’s population,in order to make Xinjiang’s population distribution more reasonable and stable,it is necessary to vigorously improve the economic development level of various municipalities, rationally plan the industrial layout, introduce various talent introduction policies, and reasonably control The population density promotes effective population concentration,so that the spatial distribution of population in Xinjiang reaches a balanced and stable state.
