In the context of an aging population,the existing educational resources for the elderly are difficult to meet the learning needs of the majority of the elderly.The problem of "a hardto-find university for the elderly" is becoming more and more severe,and the contradiction of unbalanced and inadequate development of education for the elderly has become increasingly prominent.Online education,as a new way to widen the learning channels of the aged groups,is receiving widespread attention.Especially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,online learning has entered the mainstream teaching position of senior universities in the past three years,and has become a new normal in the development of senior university courses.In the post-epidemic era,how to vigorously develop online education for the elderly,provide more diverse,high-quality,and convenient educational resources for the elderly,and truly realize that the elderly can "learn,enjoy,and succeed in learning".Therefore,this study focuses on the current situation of online learning for older students,and tries to answer the core questions of what are the shortcomings of online course learning for older students,and how to optimize the online learning experience for older students?This paper uses questionnaires and interviews to investigate 269 elderly students at Shanghai S University for the Elderly,and combines SPSS data analysis results and 13 interview materials from elderly students,teachers,and educational administrators to sort out and summarize the online learning of elderly students.Existing problems and reasons,and put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions,in order to provide reference for the development of online education for the elderly.The first chapter briefly summarizes the background and significance of this research,literature review,research ideas and methods.The second chapter builds the analysis framework of this paper based on the theory of elements of teaching system,Knowles’ adult learning theory,Demand Theory,Social Support Theory and related research results.The third chapter mainly introduces the selection basis and basic situation of research cases,the implementation status of questionnaire survey and interview design.The fourth chapter combines questionnaire data and interview texts to analyze the current situation of online course learning for elderly students,and presents the survey results from four aspects:online learning preparation,online learning needs,online learning satisfaction,and online learning influencing factors.The study found that the elderly students’ own factors will have an impact on online learning,mainly reflected in the differences in demographic variables and differences in online learning experience.At the same time,the teaching interaction method of teachers,the type and richness of course resources,the attitude and support type of family members,the interaction between students,and the support and guarantee of the platform will all have an impact on students’ online learning.Therefore,the influencing factors of online learning for elderly students can be divided into six aspects,namely Self level,teacher level,course level,family level,peer level and platform level.The fifth chapter summarizes the existing problems of online learning for elderly students based on the current situation:First,online courses lack standards,and the analysis of students’ academic situation is not in place;second,the level of learning preparation varies,and online learning literacy needs to be improved;third,the level of online teaching is uneven,and special teacher training is not indepth;fourth,students interact less online,the learning community has not yet formed;fifth,the experience of using the platform is not smooth,and attention must be paid to the transformation of technology suitable for the elderly.In response to the above problems,this study puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions from different levels:at the curriculum level,standardizing the construction of online courses and improving the learning effect of students;at the student level,cultivating online learning literacy and reducing skill operation obstacles;at the teacher level,strengthening the construction of teaching staff and improving online teaching capabilities;at the peer level,creating an online learning atmosphere,and build a learning community for the elderly;at the platform level,strengthening the transformation of the platform for the elderly and improving the online learning experience.
