With the progress of science and technology, especially the extensive application of information technology such as the Internet, cloud computing and big data, has brought far-reaching influence to the field of education, and promotes the education resource sharing on a global scale. Under the guidance of autonomous online learning mode at present, there are a number of problems with online courses, such as lack of understanding of learners’ initial ability, high request of learning ability and self-discipline ability for learners, ignorance of the guiding role for teachers, low resource utilization, lack of process evaluation and timely feedback and so on, these questions promoted people to further explore online course design mode. However, Instructor-led Online Training Mode provides possibility for solving these problems. As a new form of Online education, MOOC(Massive Open Online Course) has swept through higher education field all over the world in recent years. What’s more, edX, which was one of three big MOOC platforms, has got more and more attention from MOOC researchers for its characteristics of free and open source. Thus, this paper designed an Instructor-led Online Course based on the edX platform, to further deepen design and practice exploration about the MOOC.The content is divided into six chapters as follows:Chapter One:The introduction. This chapter clarifies the research background, raises the research question from the two aspects, which include the development of online education and the rise of the MOOC. This chapter combines the analysis of the domestic and foreign research status of MOOC and Instructor-led Online Training, this chapter illustrates the content and significance of this research, and describes the research methods and ideas.Chapter Two:Theoretical basis and related concepts. This chapter clarifies the theoretical basis about Instructor-led online course design based on the edX platform, which include behaviorism learning theory, social constructivism learning theory, activity theory and instructional design theory, what’s more, this chapter defines the concepts about the Open Courses and Instructor-led Online Training Mode.Chapter Three:The introduction of edX platform. This chapter introduces the technical characteristics of edX platform, and introduces the main functions of this platform in detail from the role of administrator, teacher and learner, and illustrates possible function about online course supported by edX platform.Chapter Four:Instructor-led online course design based on the edX platform. This chapter proposes the Instructor-led Online course design process based on edX platform in the foundation of Instructor-led online course design mode, and introduces the design process in detail. The process can be divided into three stages:platform support, pre-class preparation and course design phase. Pre-class preparation includes learner characteristics, teaching objectives, teaching content analysis and teaching environment design. Course design phase, includes leading ways, leading strategies and evaluate the effect of three parts. Leading ways are the resources leading which is divided into video resources leading and non-video resources leading, activity leading which introduces interactive activities leading such as human-computer interaction and interpersonal interaction. There are three leading strategies:role decomposition strategy, evolutionary strategy and schedule control strategy. Leading ways and leading strategies embodied in the effect evaluation. Finally, this chapter points out five principles of Instructor-led online course design based on the edX platform.Chapter Five:Design and Practice. This chapter designs the online course named TPACK Teaching Way and Methods of Chemistry Teacher in the foundation of Instructor-led online course design based on the edX platform. This chapter illustrates the Instructor-led online course design and practice Process based on the edX platform, and analyzes their practice results with the example of the fourth chapter-Production of Micro Course.Chapter Six:Summary and outlook. This chapter summarizes the research content, describes the innovation of this research, points out the shortages and looks forward to the prospects of this research.
